I pretty much liked Black Sabbath (with Ozzy), Deep Purple, Judas Priest, AC-DC (with Bon Scott) the most.

2nd tier for me was probably UFO, Ted Nugent, Moxy, ZZ Top...

... or is this just a joke thread :wakeup

I discovered their music after the 70's but as far as I'm concerned my favorite band of all time, then or now, is STEELY DAN

Little Feat (Lowell George era) also Leon Russell, Humble Pie...dang..way too many to pick one favorite...I was also bouncing from hard rock to Texas country so Willie, David Allen Coe, Waylon Jennings, etc. get rated too...

STEELY DAN
I've only heard their hits - do it again, reeling in the years, and Rikki don't lose that number. I've always wondered what the rest of their stuff is like.

I didn't like the stuff off the Aja album - peg... yuck.

Ha their top 40 is their worst stuff! In fact, they hate it. "Home At Last", "I Got The News", "Deacon Blues" and "Josie" are the best tracks off the Aja album.

p.s. check out my playlist on my profile page for some of the better SD stuff ;)

I fucking hate that piece of shit Lynyrd Skynyrd so much. Terrible fucking music.

As far as the 70s go it's Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin and it's not even close. Boston and KISS are awesome too.

In a way this is a topic you can't really answer. It's like your favorite movie actor. you want to say Al Pachino but you keep thinking of Danzel Washington.

Face it the 70s was to loaded with music. it had the best Disco, the best metal, rock, and easy listening. I don't admit the bands I like because people may judge you
If I admit I liked to listen to Jakie blue?
Mz4tMKErcZw

I could lose my Troll status.

The 70s was the best and worst times of my life. I would hang out with my wannabe biker buddy's listening to Saxxon,Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath..then I would sneak off put on my favorite corduroy pants and hit the disco.

I would be dancing to...

jOe2H3tRjjM

I lived a double life. I sold huge bags of weed for 15.00 dollars while listening to UFO

J0SyKM6PDAM

then I would later meet one of my girlfriends at the park and make out to the music of...

5uNG0IG7fbw

So you see I am the wrong person to ask who my favorite 70s band, I was hoping others shared my sistuation. funny if it was favorite 90s band it would be no problem since only three good bands came out in the 90s.

Kiss is so overrated.

You must be young. Go back to Kiss's first three albums they paved the way for hard rock. They had a unique sound and the creativity of the face paint and on stage fireworks was ground breaking. They have more platinum and gold albums then many bands combined.

You may not like them now and they are not what they once was but they earned their spot on the top 10 list.

(Pssssst! remember we are talking the 70s!)

Thin Lizzy (Best. Band. Ever.),
UFO,
Deep Purple,
KISS (before they became cartoon parodies of themselves),
Ted Nugent (before he became a complete right-wing crackpot),
Aerosmith (before they discovered sobriety).

Black Sabbath's & AC/DC's output in the 70's was far superior to anything that they've released since then as well.

Led Zeppelin. It's all about Led Zeppelin.

N9i2fqxSjTI

:tu

I wasn't alive in the 70s but the decade easily possessed the best music ever.

Led Zeppelin is at the top, with Pink Floyd a distant second, then AC/DC.

Anything that Pink Floyd did was good whether it was the trippyness of The Dark Side of the Moon or the badassness of The Wall...

crazy how i still don't think they come close to Led Zeppelin in terms of musical diversity and the fact that Robert Plant was sick on vocals

Just my opinion though, what do I know?

Pink Floyd. Don't know if I would love them so much if I had grown up back then though. Part of their appeal to me is that they go so far back and still attract so many people my age today. That doesn't mean that the main reason I love them isn't their music however

Obviously wasn't born in the 70's, but for me (gathered from my fathers record collection and many hours of listening) the list is:

1) Pink Floyd
2) Jethro Tull
3) Led Zepplin

With some Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Roxy Music/Brian Eno thrown in for good measure...
