I found this poll interesting. Would have thought America would be higher. Not surprising that the Aussies came in first though.

I was half expecting to see Texas on there. It's what I probably would have put.

Japan is a shame-based society, very different from US where the myth of the isolated "rugged individual" is beyond the reach of society's conventions.

contrast with American where right-wingers have no shame, no honor, will spew any toxic crap without any responsibility to the truth or society.

I'm proud of Portugal's low position in this poll.

They measured "Trust" "Respect" "Pride" and "Admiration"

I am very proud of my country. "Respect" is a tough one; I probably wouldn't score it real high on a scale.

"Admiration" the same....

"Trust" Please.

If only "pride" was asked; I'm sure the U.S. would finish on up there...as the question was asked, however....

"Texas" would do very well, IMO.

You Texans and the whole state pride thing...never understand it.

Did they use a scale of 1 to 10? If not, I will.

Trust: -10

Admiration: 4

Respect: 5

Pride: 9

Well, you're from Michigan.

Of course you don't understand it.

Residing in Pa now; they understand it, but don't have it.

OT - but continuing the State Pride thread:

Saw a bumper sticker (or shirt), can't remember which:

Don't ever ask a person where they're from.

If they're from Texas, they'll tell you.

If they're not, well, it'll just be embarrassing.
