View Full Version : hogs and aggies
at the start of the season i would have said the hogs win this hands down but they are not as good as i thought they would be. that said, we have no idea how good a&m is as they have not faced any team that is any good at all.
a&m does appear to be more polished, faster and more athletic than they were last year, but they are still very young and not very deep.
i will take arkansas in this one.

not all of them will. i am an aggie of course and i went to school there in the mid 90's so i got to see them when they had a solid program. i have to be realistic about the program now. i like what they have recruited lately and how it is coming together but they are starting a total of 12 freshmen and several sophomores. this will be against a faster and deeper opponent than what they have faced so far and although i think they will fare well i think they will still come up short.

arkansas has a very young team as well, and both teams are evenly matched. it should be an interesting game to watch.

^ i agree. i would probably be one of the top three game predictors if it wasnt for my blind biasness for texas teams.
i am not too familiar with the QB for the hogs. if johnson stays at the level he has been to date this season then a&m can certainly get the win. of course, a healthy michaels at RB helps as well.

A true fan hopes that his team will always win but is realistic enough to know when they are just not good enough. I do believe the Ags have one more year before they will be a serious player. However, Ark is young enough that this could be a good game to steal for the Ags.

correction. the ags start 6 freshmen and 5 sophomores. but they have played 16 true freshmen and 7 redshirts to date. 30 of the 53 players on the team are underclassmen.

I think this one is going to be a shootout. I think A&M's offense is pretty good (better than expected) and A&M's defense is still pretty bad (exactly where expected). I'll take A&M 42-38, but an Arkansas win sure wouldn't surprise me.

This game should be a shootout and I'm hoping the young ags dont get caught up in the spectacle of a Saturday night ESPN 2 game. As a former resident of the state of Arkansas, I absolutely despise all things Razorback and would love to see them lose.

My main concern for the Aggies (apart from the stiffer competition Arkansas will bring) is the fact that this is their first quasi-away game. I'm not sure how the younger kids will handle it.

the a&m chodes are ready to begin mass chode swelling if they win this game, i mean we all read the SI lopez from texags article where jerrod is a better thrower than bradford, a better leader than colt mccoy and a better runner than tebow. by my calculations when this baby hits 88 mph, youre gonna see some serious shit

random history:
this is the 63rd meeting with A&M winning the last meeting in 1991 27-0. Arkansas would join the SEC and meet again Saturday. The Hogs own the series 38-24.
I'd love for A&M to pull this out, but I think Mallett throws for close to 500 yards and the Hogs pull away late. Call it 41-31, Arkansas.

I just don't see Arky beating the Agggs at the Death Star, even though I think the Aggggs would still have got last in the B12 South this year had Baylor's QB not go down.
However
Don't ever ever count out the ability of the aggs to not show up for a team that isn't named Texas.

Yeah, but admittedly, I was a young buck around that time. I think I was about 12 yrs old when the conference finally dissolved (like '95 or '96, right). You're right, though. I should prolly brush up on my TAMU history before I ask questions easily answered on ST.

Big 12 teams don't have a good track record at the Death Star.
Look for Aggie's new Black Buddha to get injured in the first half.

1) Who woulda thought the aggs choke against a non-burnt orange team on the main stage?
2) Who woulda thought their number 1 offense in the nation was total bull shit?
3) Who woulda thought that Extra Stout was an agg?

question: where is that one aggie runningback that would always bust plays for 40-90 yards against UT?
Did he graduate already and if so what team drafted him?
He was the runningback that JGW jacked off every week and said how he consindered USC after A&M. He singlehandedly was the reason A&M beat us two years in a row?
He should be a senior now iirc.

Yeah, even during the debacle that was the Dennis Franchione era, we still managed to kick the t-sippers' butts a couple of years. Thanks for the pick-me-up, I was starting to feel down.
Oh well, with so many young players on the field for us, we're going to have a rough year. I think we'll be good in a couple of years, though.

I think we're also getting almost an entire offensive line from the same high school next year, a lot of them 4-star recruits. Hopefully that will help, Johnson never had more than a split second to throw the ball.

When is the last time A&M didn't get blown out in a primetime ESPN game?
At least the state of Arkansas has something positive to celebrate during these tough economic times.
We just need Bruce Matthews to have a 3 more kids to fill up the rest of our o-line.

The Aggies might be worse than I thought.
i was called out for picking the hogs and i turned out to be correct. i have always been realistic about this team from the start. they are not that good yet. they have a very young and inexperienced o line. they have no depth. they start all freshmen or sophomore receivers and the secondary is also all underclassment (with one juco transfer). the 3 pansies they played were no prep for such a game and it showed. now, they will gradually improve this year and a 6-6 start (which i also predicted) is still a very realistic goal, especially since the big XII (with the exception of texas) is not very good this year. even OU is not very good.
yes, sherman was not very good with his game plan and abandoned the running game way too soon (his running backs had been averaging 6 yards per carry in the first half). still, there were things beyond his control. tannehill drops a catch that would have been an easy TD. johnson fumbles at the hogs 5 and the fumble is returned all the way back. the punter kicks one 5 yard punt and another for 20. and the secondary twice left hogs receivers so wide open even tony romo could have completed a pass to them.
all in all, a bit more of a rout than i had predicted but still the loss that was inevitable. for the record, i have them faring bettter in performance against OSU but still losing by about 2 touchdowns.

Same story as always. The offense can't block and the defense can't tackle.

Not trying to talk shit but.. saw this coming 41-24 turned out to be 47-19. A&M is terrible and have a long way to go, again not talking shit it's just sort of obvious.
Arkansas looked tight and nervous to start the game and when they settled down it was over with I suppose.
Really the only thing I saw negative for the Hogs was the amount of yards given up. Once it got ugly BP rotated the defense like it was musical chairs or something. I guess he wanted to get some experience for our young guys on defense.
It was really awesome to see Frank Broyles, Jim Lindsey, and other big wigs sitting with Jerry Jones during the game. Jerry came on Arkansas sports radio and talked about his days as a Hog and kept referring to Arkansas as "we" which shows he is still involved and a huge fan of the Razorbacks. I hate the Cowboys but it's nice to have a guy like that backing up your program.
Anyways Mallet is like a statue in the pocket, boy needs to move and get quicker. Other than that it was a good game for us but after that score fans are trying to figuring out if we are improved or if A&M is really just that awful.
