what's the deal? serious question.
i know they bought the land near palo alto college and they use to have portables at palo alto and now have occupied a building off of gillette & hwy 16.
i know at one time they were an extension of a&m-kingsville and their name said that. now they are a&m san antonio, is that gonna be stand alone or is that just re-branding and they're still an extension of kingsville.
...just wondering.

They are going to be a stand alone university. They were a branch of A&M Kingsville up until a few months back. They are currently building an administration and getting the top levels in before they start hiring all other staff.
They will only be admitting junior and senior level students at first but eventually will be a complete four year university.

It's going to be a pretty nice campus, from what I can tell (that was around February). Officials had to have a certain number of students enrolled in classes to get full funding. I think they got that number so things should be moving along. Not sure about the exact opening date of the official stand alone campus, but I do know that Palo Alto is full of portables that students are using as A&M San Antonio right now.
If they had the classes that I wanted ( MPA Non-profit, social work..etc) I would totally go that route instead of UTSA. But, alas, it's an ag school (no one make me sound like an idiot of course I knew it was a long shot they would have these courses!) it looks like UTSA for me.
It's going to be a great economic boost for the south side area (hopefully). Although, while I was doing taxes at PAC I talked to some old woman who was bitching about the growth and how "that should stay on the north side." :rolleyes

Nothing against the campus............Im actually glad there will be another state college in town. I just would not want to drive to the southside for classes. Utsa is about 10 min. from my doorstep.
