How did you purchase it? I'm trying to from the website but the only things I keep getting redirected to are for a demo and signing up for an email list. I must just be missing something, but I can't believe it's so hard to give the NBA my freakin' money.

I'm a returning League Pass Broadband customer, and I'm having similar problems. I get the same initial message, and even when I click on the 'returning customers press [launch],' I get a screen that shows no games playing. I'm not sure if I need to re-subscribe or if they just aren't showing preseason games online.

I think you need to resubscribe and even submit a ticket for access - I had to send them a copy of my cable providers bill showing I had ordered it. I dunno - seems like a bit much.

Pardon my ignorance...I'm a first timer to league pass. I purchased the league pass and I just want to see how to access the games page to watch them. I logged on to league pass and it again throws me the purchase splash page. what do I click or where do I go next to see the available games to watch? Any help would be helpful. Thanks.

So now comes the big question: Seven teams or every team? I'd bet that you could pick seven teams that play each other the least so you could see the most total games. All I really care about is the Spurs.

League Pass has been pretty much the same price for a while. The option to by league pass broadband on it's own just became available last year and it was $99. Now, it is $134. That seems high considering You can buy League Pass with broadband included for $169.
It is really strange considering how many problems they had with the broadband product last year. Lots of complaints about quality and feeds freezing. I think they fixed most of the problems, but this still seems a little bit unreasonable.

I just remember when it first came out it was like 99 dollars and it seemed to go up about 20 dollars each year for the next 4 or 5 years.
I haven't been a suscriber, with the exception of one of the first couple of years, but that's what I seem to remember from their commercials that start the season.
The free-preview is still airing on Dish, NBATV channel only, and they supposedly have a free-preview running from the Oct.27 - Nov.3, IIRC, that will hopefully be showing all the games in addition to the NBATV channel.

Does that mean you can now watch any game that has been played any time? if so, awesome! I don't mind paying a bit more for that.
Just took a look, and International LPB is still $99 for normal quality, and $150 for HD. How much would going HD eat into my download quota? At normal quality the games usually ate about 1G. Wonder if it's worth the extra $50 - they should offer a trial period.
Edit - it's $134 for ILBP as well, and they justify that by adding a "playoffs" charge. Fucking gougers.
Anyone got a coupon? :lol
RuffnReadyOzStyle
10-14-2009, 07:25 AM
BTW, I have no major beef with ILPB because I expect anything new to be crap until it's been thoroughly debugged - last season the quality was highly variable with lots of freezing and player crashing, although as the season went on it improved. This season I'm assuming the technology will work a lot better than it did last year. However, if you want to read a thread with some really unsatisfied people:

$160 is a pretty good deal. If you get the LPB for $89 you will only get to follow 7 teams of your choice. The quality is pretty good. But with regular LP, you get to watch every game that is not televised locally or nationally.
You can definitely hook up your PC to your tv. If you only care about watching the Spurs, then getting the broadband is the way to go. It is the cheapest and the quality is pretty good.

I do that every time, its very easy to connect your PC to your TV, get a

Yeah...that's what it did last year. It's best to get in early to save the money but even at $180 it's still a decent deal for anyone that is a hardcore basketball fan and will watch a lot of games. I know I will.

Obviously neither does the NBA. There are a lot of us out there to whom $160 IS a lot of money. Looks like I'm going to miss out again. Every time I plan to buy LP they bump the price way up. I had planned to cancel cable to be able to afford LPB, so if they aren't going to show nationally televised games, plus all the Mavs games are blacked out in my area, I'm not going to bother with it. I was checking it out earlier. I have LP BB last season and sometimes you would get the home team's feed on tv and the visitor's feed on the BB stream. You could also log in with your PS3 web browser, zoom in, and it'll look like a normal tv broadcast. Now, I don't agree with the price jacking. If it was $99 again, I would get it. Might as well get the DirecTV package. It was very few Spurs broadcast feeds during the first 3/4 of the season.
For those wondering about a 1 team option, it will be one, but it's on a team by team basis. The only team that I know that will be testing this out is Portland. (They have a messed up local tv contract there)
For those who had LP BB last year, make sure you log into nba.com to see if your subscription will auto-renew. Mine had reoccurring subscription with no way to cancel it.

The LP on TV is actually cheaper this year. It was like $179 last year. I just ordered mine and it will let me pay it out in 4 monthly installments of $42. I don't know many people who do not blow 40+ bucks a month on garbage. I know I do. Long story short, if someone really wanted to watch the games they could come up with the cash. And for the record...I have two car notes and a house note that I am paying, so I am far from being able to just drop the cash without blinking.
From my experience in previous years, most of the Mavs home games get blacked out because they are on FOXSW. There is also a local Dallas channel that shows Mavs games, but I can't remember the name of it.

Damn, I wish the 7-team $96 option had an easy payment plan like the $146 option, then I would go for the 7-team option for sure. But since I have an extremely limited income, $32.46 a month x5 is actually easier on me financially, especially since I'll be driving into SA twice in the next two weeks, once tomo for the Spurs-Cavs game, and again for Dia de los Muertos.
And I was talking to my aunt on the phone, and she said to look out for hidden fees. Are there any, besides tax (how hard would it be to put the price after tax up, and calculate it so it ends up all pretty, ex: 399, 350, etc:bang)?
Oh and someone should invent a crazy equation for how many games I'll get if choose the Spurs (82), Magic (79), Trailblazers (74), Lakers (70), Celtics (66), Jazz (64), and Cavs (60). Give or take a few games, I'll get 495 games from them alone. There is a hell of a lot of overlap, but nowhere near the level of following all the teams. Every single game you'd be paying for both teams. I would only have to do that for when 2 of my 7 play each other.
Damn, a slightly easier payment plan is not valuable enough for me to pay 50 bucks extra. Like people have said, I'll only really follow the Spurs. I'll keep tabs on Portland, Utah, and Magic because I like those teams/players. With LAL, Boston, and the Cavs, I'll just be scoping the competition. Hopefully Ron Artest blows up the Lake Show, Rasheed sets a career high on techs and fouling, and Shaq proves to be slow to get his big ass out of Lebron's way, causing "The One" to throw a tantrum, respectively.

Problem is, it's not 40 dollars a month for me, it's 40 dollars a month plus the price of cable that I didn't cancel.
Not that I really care that much about the Mavericks, but it sucks that the NBA just assumes that I can afford cable or that I want to buy tickets to AAC so they black out any local game. Until they get those overlapping media contracts fixed, they're going to have a hard time selling it to me. When they finally do work it all out so you can see every game, it'll probably be 500 dollars. The NBA probably figured that most hardcore fans will find a way to justify any cost to see their teams, and won't lower the price to lure casual fans in. While I'm not a casual fan, I'll force myself to do without or sit in the car listening to Bill Schoening like I've been doing for damn near 20 years now.
MF, my seven teams would include a team from each division to ensure as few overlapping games as possible, and then try to decide from there. I'd probably pick San Antonio, Denver, Miami, Cleveland, Boston and the Clippers and then either Utah or Portland as the seventh just to get a few extra western conference games.

Do you have cable now? If so, it is a sunk cost. You can afford the cable you have now (because you have it) + the 40.00 you spend on misc. (drinking? going out?...). Just replace that.
Or, just get the 7 team package for 89.00. It is the cheapest option (2 payments of 45.00). Or cancel your cable and you can easily afford the LPB 7 team option. If you want to watch a nationally televised game, just go to a friends place or go to a bar.
If you know anyone else that wants LP close to you, you can split it. One of you purchases LP for 169.00, then one gets the LPB and one gets to watch on tv. Cuts the cost in half and you get all of the games on LPB, not just the 7 team option.

Last year I bought just LeaguePass Broadband for $90, as opposed to the $180 for the tv package with free broadband. I figured that even with the reduced quality/convenience of having games only on my laptop, the price difference reflected that. But this year they want to charge $135 for broadband ONLY, but $160 for the full tv package PLUS free broadband (pre-season prices)? According to my math, for an extra $25 I get the full tv package. So that's obviously a better deal. Of course, if you don't already have a hefty cable package but do have broadband internet access your situation would be totally different, but for me the price of the broadband package only is so high that the combo package is practically a 2-for-1 deal.

Denver's always a potential train wreck, but they're a lot of fun to watch. I think Griffin's going to be fun to watch as it is, and there's nobody else in that division I care about. If I want to watch the Lakers, I can get the highlights of every game in HD from that Laker fan site, if it's still up, so there's no point in wasting a pick on them. I also have a question: how large is the blackout area for spurs games?

:lol You said, "2 payments of $45" -- indicating that it could be paid in two payments. Now the guy order it thinking that was an option. What was the point of saying "2 payments" if that was a real choice?
Indeed. I felt dumb for being confused.:(
Denver's always a potential train wreck, but they're a lot of fun to watch. I think Griffin's going to be fun to watch as it is, and there's nobody else in that division I care about. If I want to watch the Lakers, I can get the highlights of every game in HD from that Laker fan site, if it's still up, so there's no point in wasting a pick on them. The quality of video on that site kicks the crap out of League Pass quality.
So is GSW supposed to be good this year? I might pick them over the Lakers. Or I might pick the Nuggets and say FU to the Pacific division.:nope
Oh, and how long is the $89 deal going to be available. I plan on getting it in the next week, so I should be good right?

Didn't I read somewhere that Nellie is thinking of playing a 6'2" guy at small forward? I can't imagine they'll be good, but they're liable to be entertaining.
I wouldn't blame you for bypassing the Pacific altogether. The Lakers won it by like 20 games last year, and nobody has improved at all. Even if Ron Artest destroys the team the Lakers are taking that division in a cake walk.

Indeed. I'm going to switch my list to Spurs, Magic, Portland, Nuggets, Jazz, Bulls, and the Nets. Fuck the Cavs, Celtics, and Lakers, I don't really like two players in any of their main rotation. Nets really only have one in Lopez, but since he apparently is basing his game of Timmy's with success, I want to follow him, and see it with my own eyes. Plus, Harris is fun to watch when he isn't pulling a Tony on the Spurs 4x a year.:hat

I got one! love it
Question: If I purchase the League pass broadband and then go out of the country, will I still be able to watch the games online? Or will they block my IP address?
No; I did that last year and I had to purchase international LP, in addition of the LP (US version) I paid already and could not use anymore overseas.

Can anyone that already has ILPB confirm something for me. I have a 3mb connection (supposedly), which means that the highest speed I can download at is around 360kbps. Will that be enough to watch games uninterrupted? or will I have to be buffering like a motherfucker? 'cause if that is the case, its not worth the money IMO.

Of course not, that would be the stupidest move ever for the NBA to allow that. lol
hmmm, I just chequed on another forum for P2P's and apparently there are people all over the world, sharing accounts. So, I guess the NBA is just stupid?

What I'm really interested in finding out is what do they mean with a minimum of 1mb connection in their FAQs. Does that mean that I need a connection that downloads at more than a 1000 KBps? or does that mean that you need to be able to download at at least 120 KBps? My internet provider calls a connection that downloads at 360 KBps at the best of times, a 3Mb connection, I'm not sure how it is in the US.
Point is, will I be able to watch the stream without buffering every five minutes with a download speed of 360 KBps?

Mine exceeds that 1MBPS. And forget about buffering every 5 minutes, that is laughable. Mine was rebuffering, and most times going back to the actual beginning of the stream, about every 50-70 seconds. Sometimes shorter than that.
1MBPS? that means your top download speed is what? 1200KBps?

What's that? You play world of warcraft? Oh.
:lol I'm still not sure what that's supposed to mean, but it doesn't change the fact that you're an ignorant mouth-breathing bigot.

Anyone else not able to get the preseason games on the League Pass channels? I have re-upped my LP but I'm still getting a message that I need to purchase LP. I was going to call Dish but I won't waste my time if it is just a preseason thing.

i heard the HD LP's quality is not that different than the normal LP's. Can someone confirm that?

This year will be my 1st but I think Ruff had it last season. He posted about it in some other thread. I’ll see if I can find;

Sp does anyone know the deadline for the 7-team deal? If I go thru with it I'd be stripped for cash when it comes to Christmas, and I don't want to be that selfish. But it there will be a 50 or less deal for 7 teams halfway thru the season, I'll wait for that.
I don't think I can handle hunting for crappy streams again, and only a fourth of the games will be available to me, since I live near Houston, and don't get kens5 or my35, so I might get the $89 and just sell a kidney or lung.:lol

if i get the 7 team pass, does that also include an archive for my 7 teams?.. this might be a dealbreaker considering my crazy schedule...

dangit.. this is what I got according to the dell website i just ordered the laptop a week ago..
Intel® Pentium™ Dual Core T4200 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/1MB cache)...
and the leaguepass required this: Intel Pentium 4.2.33 Ghz processor (or equivalent)??... yet the mac only requires 1.3 ghz processor.. what gives? any computer experts out there that can settle this for me?

You're running a dual core, much more poweful than an old pentium 4 - you should have no problem with processor speed
