Shaq at 6 is ridiculous. Definitely at least #2. Can even be argued #1, although Duncan is just as deserving as #1.

KG was a statistical beast, just had shitty teams (except in '04).

my list:

1. Timmothy T. Duncan
2. Shaq (it's really close b/w him and Duncan)

let Mamba and Ticket fight for 3rd and 4th.

Since when does yahoo count. Kobe already won this award.

That's why I love these Laker fans lol

I agree, especially if the decade ends in 2009. I'd go as far as to say:

1) Duncan 1a
2) Shaq 1b
3) Kobe #2

Statistically speaking, over the last decade, Kobe's been on par and probably even exceeded Shaq and Duncan. But Kobe has had less team success so that automatically puts him below the other two.

I always thought the decade ended in 2010. If it does and Kobe gets another ring this season, he's #1. Same with Shaq and Tim, if either one gets a ring in 2010, I put them a clear-cut #1 above the rest.

3 guys with 4 rings, first one to #5 settles the debate once and for all.

Its impossible to call someone player of the decade when said players team completely misses the playoffs one year in said decade.

It may simply be arguing over semantics, but Kobe actually won SN's "ATHLETE of the Decade". (http://spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135483&highlight=Athlete+Decade)

Taking the semantics argument a step further: Kobe actually won SN's NBA Athlete of the Decade.

Athlete of the Decade took into account accomplishments outside of the NBA. Kobe's Olympic Gold medal has more to do with him winning it than anything. however, this award takes into account only NBA accomplishments, and there's no debate about the sole two people who belong in that discussion: Mr. Shaq and Timmothopoly Theodorosis Duncanates.

Guys, boobies, you can't stretch & contract the decade to serve your means. The Sporting News has confirmed the decade's parameters. You're SOL in terms of raw titleage. You have the 3. We have the 4. You can chase your asshole round your elbow till the cow over there jumps over the moon, and try your damnest to stuff 10lbs of shit into a 5lb bag, but, you still ain't gonna get where you want to go. We busted your ass on the last NBA opportunity for a title in the decade. It's a pisser for ya's I know. Luva has delineated your post mortem on the particulars in grand fashion.

It was like an act of God for cryin' out loud. I mean we pissed off the Pope with Kobe rapin' that Colorado starfish and still ended up with 4!

I think I'm giddy again.

No, Lefty,

It's:

Kobe: 4 titles

Duncan: 3 titles

No, the decade didn't start in 2000 Cul, it started in 01, making Kobe's tally at 3.

Kobe= 01,02,09
Duncan=03,05,07

3=3

Tied. However, Duncan has taken the Spurs to the playoffs every step of the way this decade. Kobe, I don't think so, making Duncan just a tad ahead of him as player of the decade. If there's anyone who should be neck and neck with TD, it has to be Shaq, not Kobe. Then again, him missing the playoffs last year with Suns might have closed his case :flag:

this thread needs to be bump

i was trolling over at realgm, they have a similar thread like this but its the discussion of whether KG is worthy of #2 over Kobe or not,

and i see the same fkn excuses KGfans always used to justify his career over players who are better than him whether its stats or career achievements, yes lowering another players achievements cause they were in a better position at the right time right place...give me a fkn break you dont seem to have a problem accepting max contracts and taking ur team nowhere.

it should be
duncan
shaq 00-06 (heats 06 season he was somehow still relevant in the league)
