You saw it yourself, after the calf injury he just isn't the same. I thought he was retiring.

He could be the Coyote's zany sidekick, but his playing days are done.

I dunno, maybe he could just be like Kerr. Camp at the three point line and shoot treys.

when he was a spur, i don't remember him making many big shots. although through the 4 years he was a spur, i pry watched a total of 100 games or so, he didn't look as good as he was hyped to be. i think the spurs just missed his prime, and he's not needed now

he did nothing in h town last year so i see him eventually retiring this season.

Um, no. The only thing worse than a pump-faking three point shooter is a pump-faking three point shooter that can't actually put it on the floor after said pump-fake. I'm sure the Spurs can find someone on the pre-season roster to stand at the three point line and pass up open shots if there's a defender within 12 feet of him.

He was fine for us, he just got outplayed by Von Wafer....

Kerr was a pest on defensive and was quicker. Barry doesn't bring anything but shooting and passing...too slow nowadays.

He was part of the reason the Spurs could beat the Suns at their own game. I think it was the 2005 playoffs when he did the exact job he was supposed to: hit threes when Tim passes out of a double.

He could be hired as a halftime comedian. Besides that, he's done as a player.

Brent Barry and Bruce Bowen can still do the HEB commercials during games... Both of them did a pretty good job being dumb funny.

hey whottt you should buy some new bron'bron shoes... i mean you're un-athletic and white right? plus they will add a 2 inch vertical, and when i say vertical i don't mean your hops but instead you might be able to finally ride the rattler.

In all seriousness, I'm not as deadset on shooters as I used to be for one simple reason...Tim Duncan, at least based on last season, no longer draws double teams, therefore we have greater needs that shooters. If Duncan still drew them as he once did I would still be in favor of Barry and Horry(who do not get doubled off of ever)...

Our shooting is highly sucpect this year, but it's not going to matter near as much as it has in past seasons, there are bigger needs to winning a title now than guys that can hit open shots off Duncan double teams...Pretty much the shooters have decided our fate since 1989, and that is no longer the case based on last season.

The way I see it is Tony Parker is the guy who is going to draw the most doubles now and for whatever reason(I personally think it's Pop philosophy) there is not as much of an emphasis to hit the guy at the 3 point line when Parker is drawing the doubles. Doesn't make much sense to me but it is what it is...

I'm not quite sure what the major key to us winning a title now is...I just know I like Dejuan Blair and figure him to be part of the solutions.

As for Barry, I don't think it takes much physical ability to play the Steve Kerr role...Steve Kerr played his entire career with less physical ability than Barry has in now, I just don't think that role is going to be as important as to whether or not we win a title as it has been for much of the past 2 decades.

All that said...I don't see any room for Spur fans to finger point at the ousting of Horry and Barry as being a winning move where we got over...last I checked we pretty much got humiliated in the first round last year and have score board on no one...even with the mighty Findog in tow.

well if somehow we can trade Finley & bonner for battier then I can see the spurs signing Barry to fill up the shooter of the bench spot.

He should be the new color guy for Rockets games because Matt Bullard sucks.
