A-Rod hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game.:wow

...Timmy with his tenth point.

And Manu threw the ball out of bounds, behind-the-back, to be more specific, when Pop wanted them to hold for the last shot.:lol

Hello!

I am from Greece and fan of Olympiakos. I hope that we will have a good game. I see that you underestimate my team. You shouldn't..... Olympiakos was the king of Europe back in the 90's (last European championship at 1997). Anyway we are back for good now because we have 2 rich prezidents that spend million dollars every year. This year we will crush our big rival Panathinaikos and we will take everything in Europe

Before that, we will crush your team Spurs. I have nothing against you but let's face it. Olympiakos is a better team. We have the best 6th player in nba Josh Childress, 2 good nba players(Wafer,Kleiza), one good center(Bourousis) and great European guards(Papaloukas etc).

All these are good players but mark my words....YOU WILL WITNESS a beast destroying your team. His name is Sofoklis Schortsianitis. He had weight problems in the past but now he is back. He lost 50 kilos and put a lot of muscles.

This is his last game(1 month ago) against Slovenia for Eurobasket(Greece won the bronze medal).

Soooo why they didn't play against the mighty Rockets and they played against the ''poor'' Olympiakos? They didn't really play against either team to be honest.
Come and play to our stadium with Euroleague rules and then you will understand meI see Greek excuses are not exclusive to one poster.

Hey man, I can appreciate that you're a huge fan of your team and you get pissed off when they lose, but relax, it's one game. I'm sure the Spurs would be plastered all over the walls in your stadium. Now then. Good game.

Spurs reunite Big Three in 107-89 preseason win (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-olympiakos-spurs&prov=ap&type=lgns)
By Paul J. Weber

Tony Parker scored 12 points in his preseason debut and the San Antonio Spurs gave the first full glimpse of their overhauled roster in a 107-89 victory over Olympiakos in an exhibition game Friday night.

Tim Duncan had 10 points and Manu Ginobili added seven in the first time San Antonio’s Big Three played together since Ginobili’s season-ending ankle injury last April.

Richard Jefferson, the marquee addition for the Spurs in a busy offseason, had four points.

Josh Childress scored 15 points for Olympiakos, the Greek club that lured the former Atlanta Hawks star with a three-year, $20 million deal last year.

George Hill led the Spurs with 15 points and Roger Mason added 10.

Sofoklis Schortsanitis, a giant 310-pounder from Greece, had 12 points for Olympiakos.

Wearing a bulky brace on his left knee, Duncan grabbed five rebounds in 16 minutes but never left the bench after halftime. After Duncan broke down late last season with knee problems, the Spurs are taking it easy with the 33-year-old.

Parker also sat out the second half after going 6 of 8 from the field and handing out three assists in 15 minutes. Coming off a career year last season, Parker was his usual speedy self after giving the Spurs a brief scare when he sprained his ankle playing for France this summer.

Antonio McDyess, who left Detroit for San Antonio in the offseason, had four points and five rebounds in his Spurs debut.

McDyess and Jefferson headlined an overhauled roster in San Antonio, which let go six players from last season’s team that was knocked out in the first round of the playoffs.

All of the newcomers played Friday, including one stretch that included the biggest pieces—Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, Jefferson and McDyess—on the floor together.

Childress, starting his second season in Greece, was 6 of 12 from the field and had seven rebounds. The Hawks will again retain the NBA rights to Childress after next season, and Childress has said he was open to a return to Atlanta where he played four seasons.

Olympiakos will play a final exhibition against an NBA team on Monday at Cleveland.

You do the math

I can see math isn't your strong point.

Spurs 34 FTs
Olymp 14 FTs
---------------
20 FTs difference, not 30. :flag: :lol

So what happened when the Spurs trained in France and played 4 Euro and destroyed them all?

The Spurs could go over to Europe and play under Euro rules and still come out on top. In fact, the US is always making the adjustment when going to international play and it didn't seem to matter last year, and most years at that since 92.

But god forbid a Euro team come to the US and have to make the adjustment for once.

The fact is, the true world champions are from the NBA because the best talent in the world comes to the NBA to play and therefore, affords the best competition around.

I always said that if the Spurs team that won the title in 2007 played against Argentina, complete with Gino and Oberto clones (like in a video game, exact clones) the Spurs would have crushed Argentina because they were truly a team just like Argentina, thus negating any chemistry advantage the Argentinian national team had over the US.

I wonder what the next excuse will be Monday when they play the Cavs? They should be over the jet lag.:lol

I was at the game. And the Spurs were just coasting. Greek team was no competition. Seriously, your team needs to get better. Be thankful you have Von Wafer and Childress or you'd really suck.:rolleyes

The WHOLE second half you played our second and third team and couldnt catch up with your first team on the floor.....

you do the math.

Face it, your team is good, but nothing to an NBA team as evidence by the first quarter.

A recap of Bill Schoening's post-game interviews with George Hill and Brett Brown:

George Hill

What did he work on over the summer?

A lot of work with Chad and Chip. Chad Forcier really helped with the point-guard aspect of the game and Chip completely reconstructed his shot. He did a lot of game situation-type drills to get better at the point and a particular one-handed shooting drill to improve his technique.

How does he work on his defense?

Well, chasing Tony around gives you all the practice you could want. He really couldn't ask for a more challenging point-guard to have to defend and Tony's a big reason in his overall improvement.

And what about having to guard 2's?

It's really the same thing, only it's a guy named Manu that provides the tutoring. He has no idea how Manu is able to move and contort his body the way he does or how to know what to expect from moment to moment.

He's even been learning to defend some of the bigger players by taking a crack at the likes of RJ on occasion.

How many shots do you shoot a day in order to improve?

Sometimes 500, Sometimes 1000. There are some days where he'll shoot maybe 300. In the end, it's not really about the number as much as the quality and feel you get from a session; it might be as little as even 50.

Brett Brown

On George Hill:

Chip and Chad deserve a lot of credit and you're starting to see both of their and Georgie's work paying off.

He's got a great body and a little bit of a Bowen quality defensively. We're not afraid to play him against 2's with Tony on the court.

On DeJuan Blair:

He just looks and act like he belongs. He's got a real unusual body and you don't know how someone develops the way he did. But it's definitely got something to do with instincts that you just can't teach.

On what the team needs to work on moving forward:

They need to get the house in order for defensive rules, rules that cater to and compliment players like Theo and the other veterans. They've just got to keep building on getting back to that defensive team they've been known to be.
