Ugly? that's all you've got to say? We played worst than Peru and won. That's saying a lot! Peru is pathetic right now and so are we. If we have this much trouble with Peru, what the fuck do you think is going to happen when we have to face teams that actually play well.

I've said it before and I'll say it again Maradona doesn't know SHIT about coaching a team. If by some miracle we manage to qualify it'll only be so that we get our ass handed to us by the real teams of the world.

There's a bright side to this though, Maradona is likely to quit no matter what. If we don't qualify he is toast obviously, but my guess is even if we qualify, he'll quit saying something like "he didn't like the way things were handled" bullshit. The problem with that is of course, most Argentines are so fucking stupid, they'll continue to buy his bullshit and forgive, forget and blame the next sucker that takes the reigns.

Maradona has been exposed, all that remains to be seen is whether we Argentines are too fucking stupid to see that.

There's talk that Chile, who is already qualified and not obligated to win, might not come out in full force. They might even sit some of their first string players who have gotten yellow cards.

He is currently on loan to Belenenses (Portuguese team). This is his third year in Europe but has received very little playing time. He lost a spot on the USA roster because of limited club minutes. It remains to be seen how much playing time he will get with his new team.

LOL

Uruguay had a good chance for direct qualification and they wasted that bitch...Against a weak Argentina that isn't playing anything and haven't won in Uruguay since 1975, they had all the momentum... But honestly one month away everyone thought that Uruguay wasn't going to make the World Cup, so they did quite good, they are still in the game, they just need to beat Costa Rica, which should be easy, but knowing Uruguay history with wildcards I don't know what will happen.

Donovan? I'll give you that.

Gooch? His going to AC Milan means jack if he can't crack the squad.

But Altidore I won't quite give in to. He's still pretty young and raw. He's at a pretty shite club (Phil Brown is a cunt and I hate using that word but it's the only thing that describes him).

Donovan could be world class but he's too stuck on the MLS. He won't take the challenge and he's hurting himself and US Soccer.

NuGGeTs-FaN
11-19-2009, 04:46 PM
Nah, Australia are part of the Asian Confederation now. They are too good for the Oceanic region and were winning easy games and not having any competition, so they got moved to the Asian group and finished on top there.

FIFA originally decided to give the winner of Oceania a spot in the WC, but then i think South America kicked up a stink and they switched it back. So NZ won the Oceanic region but had to play Bahrain in a playoff to get in.

Hard to blame Henry.

We see that in any sport: when a call, or in this case a non-call goes your way, you take it.
Every athlete does it.

Blame Platini, Blatter.

And the ref; let's say the ref didn't see anything; sseing the Irish players genuinely complaining, he should have AT LEAST consulted the linesman, which he didn't.

Amr Zaki courts controversy over Portsmouth rejection

By Soccernet staff

November 23, 2009

Print (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/print?id=702604&type=story&cc=5901)

Amr Zaki has astonishingly claimed that he will not consider signing for Portsmouth on the grounds that they employ two Israelis - Tal Ben Haim and Avram Grant - as well as an Algerian in the form of Nadir Belhadj.

http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/images/2009/1123/amrzaki20091123algeria_275x155.jpg GettyImages
Amr Zaki in action for Egypt against Algeria

Zamalek striker Zaki, who impressed in the first half of the 2008-09 season with Wigan before attracting criticism for a series of disciplinary lapses, has long been a target for Portsmouth shareholder Sulaiman Al-Fahim.
Indeed, Al-Fahim confirmed only last week that he was hoping to convince manager Paul Hart and director of football Grant to sign Zaki, who he claimed "loves" the club and is desperate to move to Fratton Park.
But Zaki has courted controversy by claiming that the presence of Grant and defender Ben Haim means he would not consider joining Portsmouth. After the recent bad blood between Egypt and Algeria in World Cup qualifying, the presence of Belhadj is also an issue.
"I refused their offer before, but now joining Portsmouth is no longer an option for me," Zaki said on his official website.
"After Portsmouth signed an Israeli player and also hired an Israeli football director a possible move was ruled out. On top of that, no way could I play at Portsmouth with an Algerian within in their ranks."
Egypt was the first Arab nation to recognise Israel in 1969 but resentment still exists towards the Jewish state from many in the Muslim community.

I don't' think they will ever use video technology. There have been some experimenting with two extra officials. Each official would be located at each goal line and would patrol that area. They still haven't decided to implement it.
