The first preseason games have been a little weird. I haven’t been able to play a lot because of my back problems that don’t allow me to be at my 100%. The summer has been busy and intense, and the NBA preseason started without time to rest after the European Championships, and the NBA is very physically demanding. These days, coach McMillan wants me to rest and get healthy to be better for start of the season. I hope to get well from the back pains soon and be ready for the NBA season start.

Portland non-issues:

Rudy's concerns about his back

Roy's concerns about his touches

Miller's concerns about starting

Nate's concerns about the lack of defensive commitment and focus

Aldridge's concern about his contract

What other non-issues are the Blazers concerned about?

Persistent non-issue:

Blazers' Fernandez listed as day-to-day following back spasms

Thursday, October 15 | 12:45 p.m.

Portland Trail Blazers guard Rudy Fernandez has been listed as day-to-day, according to the team.

Fernandez, who was pulled out of Wednesday's game against the Phoenix Suns with back spasms, did not make the trip with the Blazers for tonight's road contest against the Utah Jazz. The second-year guard played 9 minutes, 6 seconds and was scoreless in Portland's 110-104 loss to Phoenix at Memorial Coliseum. Fernandez, who backs up starting shooting guard Brandon Roy, has had a quiet preseason. Heading into Wednesday's game, Fernandez was averaging 4.0 points, 1.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 15.0 minutes in two games. He also did not play in Portland's loss Oct. 7 to the Sacramento Kings. Blazers coach Nate McMillan has said he has limited Fernandez's playing time during preseason contests due to the fact that the 24-year-old guard played heavily this summer for the Spanish national team. "We know he had spasms," McMillan said in a postgame interview Wednesday night. "His back did tighten up."

It's a non-issue. Rudy played for his national team this summer so it's not like he needs practice. We'll just give him 2 weeks of rest and he'll be ready opening night.

Probably so, it's not like back spasms ever become a chronic problem in elite athletes. Just a little rest and they disappear.

Pretty much. All elite athletes get back spasms at one time or another.

His back was probably permanently fucked up when that smelly laker cunt Trevor Ariza clotheslined / punched him in the head as he was flying in for a dunk last year in that game when the blazers had already sealed the win.
