Why is Arshavin spelled like THAT?

Why is Arshavin spelled like THAT?

Looks like the French way of spelling his name to me.

Anyway, it has got to be Messi. His play was downright sick last season. I'd probably put Xavi at #2 as well.

yes it's the french way of spelling. I don't know why but when a russian name ends with a "n" we have to add "e" (staline, lenine...)

Maybe Xavi has a chance because he was the best player in the Eurocup that Spain won but I highly doubt it 'cause Guardiola (Barca's coach) and all the Barca's players (including Xavi and Iniesta) spent all season talking about how Messi is the best player in the world so it would be kind of strange if FIFA gives the award to a guy that declared that a teammate is better than him.

They'll give it to Messi because it'll create even further rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid. The two best players in the world yada yada yada blah blah blah

Eurocup was last year, so i don't know why that would factor in. Anything but Messi would be a huge shock.

Drogba is easily the best player in the World right now. The way he dominates a game is amazing. He can score, he can pass, he can defend, he's good on set pieces either kicking or for the header, you can send him long and punt it to him with success, he just wears down defenses physically. He may not be as flashy as Messi or Ronaldo but overall he's the best player in the game right now.

drogba is the best striker in the world, his just to damn good.

while a player like messi or ronaldo is just to dominant with the ball and can dictate how a game to be played whether its pacing up the game or just slowing it down....

messi is good, but i find him overrated, i look at all those defenders are to scared to tackle him compared other players with the same assignments....

I wouldn´t have complained if Xavi got it. But forwards get more recognition than midfielders.

yeah Gourcuff is that good ! he is a lot of potential, he is a 10 like France used to produce ala platini / zidane. He is IMO by far the best player in French league and by far the most talented player of the new french generation benarfa nasri ribery benzema gignac and co.

He has been compared to Zidane for his technical qualities, he is playing for Bordeaux and unlike Zidane already won a title with Bordeaux.

He is fluid and has a lot of facilities with the ball. make some youtube research, you will incredible actions.

IMO he has the potential to be "ballon d'or".

Ridiculous that Drogba finished 9th. I realize this is for the whole year which contains the end of the last season but he has been the best player in the world by far this season. Maybe they should change the award to contain the whole season and give it out in the summer. Weird for it to be the end of one year and the beginning of the other.

Biggest margin ever for a winner of this award.

Messi is without a doubt the best player in the world, even if haters won't admit it, is like Johan Cryuff said: "Messi can do the same things that all the other great players in the world do, but nobody else can do what Messi does"

P/S: Xavi should have been second.

Neuer is a beast but he has a beast d and midfield to protect him. Cristiano deserves it tbh, he had a beast la liga last year, dominated the CL, and is off to an amazing start this year. Yeah he was shitty in the World Cup but he wasn't fit

Eh, Ronaldo was 2 minutes away from having a silverware-less season. It ain't even like he's the one that saved it. Saying Neuer has a beast defense is like the Messi had Xavi/Iniesta argument, while good trolling material, is absurd. Real Madrid is like the most expensive team in world history so that's a knock against Ronaldo if we use that logic.

Overall, I wouldn't mind if Ronaldo beats out Neuer, but I'd go with the keeper. This Messi vs Ronaldo campaign whoring (LOL Real's open letter to FIFA) is getting nauseating.
