Bucks Likely To Start Kurt Thomas
Oct 19, 2009 7:23 AM EST

Kurt Thomas could start the regular season as the starting power forward in Milwaukee.

His role with the Bucks was in question when he was traded by the Spurs in the Richard Jefferson deal on June 23, but he started his fourth straight game on Saturday night.

"I really didn't know what to expect," Thomas told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel of how he felt following the trade. "I just wanted to wait until I talked to the Bucks.

"They were real upbeat about things and wanted me to come in and contribute. It has been a great adjustment."

Bucks coach Scott Skiles sees Thomas playing both power positions this season.

"I'm going to have to find some sort of balance in there for him," Skiles said. "It's tough to do when you're playing him both spots. It probably means at some point you've got to leave him out for a long stretch. We'll figure it out as time goes on."

Poor guy. Any competitor hates to be on a losing team.

If the Bucks have smart business guys in charge of their basketball operations, then they would give Kurt signficant playing time to boost his trading value come February, so they could get something signficant back in return since he is leaving after this year anyways or retiring.

That being said, I'm sure a contender will come calling come February and make a move for his services.

Kurt Thomas, Fab Oberto, both are going to be starters. But Udoka will fight for his minutes, good luck.

No way Fab becomes a starter in Washington unless Brendan Haywood is injured all the time.

Yes, I was wrong. but still happy to know Oberto will have significant mins in Wizards.:toast

He has started the past two games at center for the Wizards, with Brendan Haywood out with a sprained right ankle. But Coach Flip Saunders said Oberto would see more time at power forward with Antawn Jamison out for at least the remainder of the preseason with a shoulder injury and Haywood back practicing and expected to return soon.

I was a big fan of Kurt Thomas despite our failures, I hope he catches on with a top team later on in the season(as long as it isn't LA, Dallas, Denver, Cleveland, or Boston)..

Is there a possibility he gets bought out and returns later this season? I hope so.

There isn't really any use for him here anymore with the additions of McDyess, Blair, and Ratliff..

Good luck to him...but I don't know why they don't start Warrick and Bogut.

Good for him! But I'm hoping he'll get traded to a contender by the deadline. Unfortunately, I don't think it will be to here.

I'd rather have Bonner at this point.

Bonner gives plays a position with a specific skill-set that is very valuable to us and that we really can't replicate with anyone else on the team. By alternating him for Thomas we really just get more of the same and lose the versatility that we had. Say what you will about Bonner, but as a role player in a small role hes a pretty good player to have around.

Warrick is better off coming off the bench. Like C-Vill, he is going to the sixth man on the Bucks. C-Vill got about 25 minutes a game averaging 16 points. Brandon Jennings is going to be playing a big role. We will see what Skiles does with him.

Good idea. KT can totally spread the floor.

Defense wins Championships. Get that in your head.

Check out the stats from the last time the Spurs won a Championship. You will notice something interesting. There was one Spur who did no play in ANY of the four games in the sweep. Not a second of court-time. Guess who it was.

I checked, it's the awesome Matthew "Red Rocket" Robert Bonner.

The Pesky comments alluding to a Bonner swap for Thomas is ridiculous. We have McD and Theo. Why would we want one more of a player we basically have already? There is no need for KT anymore. Especially at what? 37-38? I have always respected KT and I wish him the best of luck.

I do not see Kurt starting in front of both young and coming Warrick and Alexander.

He might not have played, but he contributed...I promise.
