View Full Version : Does Tony or Manu know about Spurstalk?

Now that they both have facebook pages (of which I'm sure many of us are a fan), do you guys think they know of and read Spurstalk to get the low down from the fans? I know if I had time to kill and I played I'd want to know what my fans thought of me and my team...

I'm assuming no players give a fuck about what the fans have to say on a day to day basis, since a large bit of them are retarded. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if many players stop in every so often to local forums etc, especially after a big game or acquisition.

Besides the whole "internet is anonymous" thing and the players probably want to keep their private lives private, so they'd never reveal themselves or even attest to browsing these sites...

I'd find it hard to believe that a guy like Manu, who is updating his fb every 10 minutes, doesn't know about this popular site. I'd bet he has a couple troll names...and lols @ Ducks

I don't know if Manu reads ST, but it seems obvious that he enjoys interacting with fans on fb. And :lol at the ducks comment.

Tony and Manu probably don't spend any time here. However I am convinced that Beno and Bonner's postseason struggles were a direct result of reading the mean things said on this board.

I don't think they check this forum out or anything, but I'd be surprised if players that spend time interacting on the internet don't know about forums like these..

I don't think they would really want to hear or know some of the things said about them but I do remember that if you threw out a link to some article on here occassionally Manu would come to that link to check it out.

why should I reveal that?

I doubt it, but it would be pretty cool if they did. I'm sure it would be a distraction though especially during the season.

I think you already did, Manu Ginobili.

If Buck can get his material from ST, I'm sure that the players know about ST. Heck, even Ron Artest tried to get into Rockets site...Clutchfans.

Players probably don't spend time reading it as multi-millionaires have better things to do. However, I'm sure their publicist monitors the fan pulse through sites such as these.

HarlemHeat37

Didn't Ron Artest make an account on a Lakers forum a few months ago?..

Its human nature to be curious about what others think of you, so yes, I guess its a safe bet that computer savvy players would know about ST.. what better way to get unbiased and astute insight into all things Spurs? How else to make sense of what goes on in Pop's brain?

Of course they know, but I highly doubt they check it out after a bad game.

I am actually Manu under an assumed alias. That is when I am not Tony. What is it you want to know? I will put my answer on my facebook page.

BTW, what is facebook? On second thought I'll go ahead and answer you here on the Grrrrreat SpursTalk.com

Your question/statement: "I know if I had time to kill and I played I'd want to know what my fans thought of me and my team."

Answer/comment: "Come to the home games at the AT&T and cheer me and my teammates on by yelling at 125 decibels from start to finish. Do NOT give the NBA the satisfaction of letting the Lakers & Celtics have another Finals pairing. Finally, Pop makes us run 100 full court length sprints in under 5 minutes if he catches any of us on any message board during the season. Please do not let him know I was here answering your post. I do not want to run the sprints. :whine

U R a good fan as are almost everyone who posts here are. The Lakers, Mavs and Suns fans want to see us go down for the count but, that just ain't gonna happen. We plan on kicking ass and taking names as we haul off Trophy #5...! :ihitTIA"

Ducks = Tony parker
Portnoy = Manu G.

It's a way to indirectly release thier hate for one another!

Some little twerp from another thread who thought Pop was scouring ST for news at all hours. He got my dander up.

Thanks urunobili. Obviously I'm not better than this because I was unaware that this thread even existed. Great to know though and I'm looking forward to many of the translations in the future. Can't wait to get this season started.

These guys have way too much down time/dead time with travel and such where they are away from their families to not check it out from time to time unless they are just flat out against the site. With today's technology they could be sitting bored in an airplane waiting for everyone to load up and get going and check to see if anything interesting is on here. I think human nature makes it a bit enticing to just see when people are writing directly about you.

They probably think we're all whack jobs though.

Manu told me several years ago that he had visited Spurstalk but only when someone posted a link from here on his fan forum.
