With lots of new faces on the roster, what do you all think your opening record will be? Do the Spurs need a few weeks to integrate the new guys or do you think the team is ready to roll?

Most notable, the Spurs play the Mavs TWICE in the first 10 games...:lol

6-4 start over the first 10 games mainly because of team chemistry and Timmy most likely not playing on the B2B's.

7 and 3 with two wins over the over hyped Mavs, boy though what a tough stretch to start out!

HarlemHeat37
10-19-2009, 05:34 PM
7-3 or 8-2..I think it's going to take a little while to show dominance with TD and Manu getting back in rhythm + the chemistry issues, but we have enough talent and depth to beat most of those teams either way..

phyzik, there's no way we lose at home to Utah..it's against the rules, just like getting a W against Milwaukee..

I like a tough starting stretch. Lets you coast through the tail end of the season, and start the playoffs nice and rested.

7-3?

It's a pretty tough start, and there's a lot of question marks right now. Things could fit well together and we do better even, but I don't know what's going to happen. I could actually see us coming out of the gate slowly this year.

7-3 or 8-2 is a very dominating start...especially with the quality of those teams.

I meant dominating with the play on the court..I think a lot of those will be close games, and I don't think we'll win @Portland and @Dallas that early, although it's obviously possible..

The rest of those teams aren't that great IMO..playing @ Utah will be very tough and might be a loss, but I don't see anything anywhere else..Utah hasn't won in San Antonio in forever, even when we sat out Parker and Manu last year..I think we'll beat the Mavs @home, especially since it's the 1st time we see them since last year's embarrassment..New Orleans could give some competition I guess, but I don't see it with our depth and their lack of depth..

Everything else should be relatively easy IMO..Chicago is an average team, Toronto is an average team, Sacramento is horrible, OKC no longer has the fortune of playing against a team full of elderly players that can't handle their running..

Is Timmy really going to sit out b2b's, Ive heard alot of people mention that here but honestly I havent heard anything about it from Pop or Tim himself. I think his minutes will limited to no more than 30 per game but I doubt he actually sits out games where he is physically fine.

I say we start off 7-3, split with the Mavs.

xellos88330
10-19-2009, 06:02 PM
8-2 or 9-1. True the Spurs probably won't have really good chemistry right out the box, but Pop has been more chipper this year than in the past. It makes me think he knows that this team is capable of being unstoppable.

8-2. Nice to get some of the back-to-backs out of the way early, but given the better depth this year, they should not be as bad. I expect to lose one game to the Mavs due to them matching up well. They have a lot of offense, but Pop will figure it out by the second game and hand them their ass.

I wonder if the Spurs will catch any slack from the NBA for having a policy of consistently giving their all-stars nights off. I can see the commissioner having a reasonable argument that paying fans go to games with the expectation of seeing, otherwise available, stars play.

I bet a bunch of Nuggets fans were ticked off last season when Pop decided to give TD, TP, and Manu the night off. (Though part of me still thinks that Pop was playing mind games with Karl that night :p:)

Not really. The Pacific Division has a bunch of chumps in it.

Most of the really tough Laker games are coming later in the year. Spurs/Celtics/Cavs/Magic/Blazers don't meet up with the Lakers until Christmas or later. I would have rather seen them get some of these out of the way earlier.

As for the Pacific division, I suspect the Clippers are going to make some noise this year.

But it's the Clippers so it could be a 6 seed or the last.

Don't want this to become a Lakers thread so now back to the Spurs.......

Those are my predictions, and that comes out to 7-3. However, with chemistry issues and trying to figure out rotations, one of those wins will probably become a loss and knock us down to 6-4. My guess for that extra loss would either be Hornets on opening night or one of the two Jazz games.

Those are my predictions, and that comes out to 7-3. However, with chemistry issues and trying to figure out rotations, one of those wins will probably become a loss and knock us down to 6-4. My guess for that extra loss would either be Hornets on opening night or one of the two Jazz games.

Bump.

Just so people know that this start wasn't really unanticipated.

If the Spurs start losing games they're supposed to win, that's when I'll start getting worried. For now they just have to ride out the chemistry issues and rotation issues, as well as Parker's injury.

Some people are gonna be very upset this season. Spurs will take sometime to come together and Manu nor Duncan will play b2b...

Wow, that is a brutal 10 game start for the Spurs! I go 5-5.

Lakers in comparison have a cupcake schedule to start. I suppose it all evens out in the end...

6-4, maybe 5-5; Spurs could lose ANY game that early in the season. ST will be melting down.

100% so far...

One again my optimism way outdid the team performance. Oh well, hopefully the rest of the games show some good defensive pressure and movement in the right direction.

It looks like Dallas and Portland are trying to get it together too though, so our chemistry might not be that big of an issue against them..also if Howard's out, that's huge for us, since he's usually dominating those games..

Howard's back. . . and he looks pretty good.

Ouch, San Antonio.

Meh...... close games against OKC, DAL and UTA without some of our key cogs. It's early yet.

I could actually see us coming out of the gate slowly this year.

Didn't want that to happen, but it did. Let's just see what happens game by game.

Brace yourselves, without Tony and Manu is about to get worse before it gets better.
