If this doesn't work instantly for you, make sure to restore your phone to factory settings, then follow this:

This jailbreak enables the newest apps as well as MMS messaging.
A note, DO NOT DO THIS JAILBREAK IF YOU ARE USING AN UNLOCKED IPHONE. This will update the baseband so that it can only be currently used with AT&T.
Welcome to last week buddy.

Welcome to last week buddy.
First of all, when the iPhone was initially jailbroken, there was no new Cydia update available, so jailbreaking meant going without Cydia.
Secondly, many 3G users have been having a lot of problems jailbreaking.
Bullshit, I did it minutes after it was released at 4am, installed Cydia, Appsync, and was on my way.

There was an entire quickpwn post about how users should wait to download and install the jailbreak, because blackra1n was released before the Cydia community updated.
Also, thousands of 3G (note: not 3GS or 2G) users have reported problems with the blackra1n jailbreak. So much so that they dedicated an entire column with guides and fixes for the various 3G phones that were having problems rebooting after blackra1n jailbreak.

Yup. No problems with the 3GS phones thus far.
I agree, problems with the 3G but if you did your homework you could get around them. No Cydia problems for me and I did it at 4am when it was released.
