Kevin Durant, national player of the year for UT as a freshman in 2007, returned to the Erwin Center last year to have his No. 35 jersey retired. He returns tonight as a player, though.

Fans who wear a Durant jersey or carry a Durant sign can get a ticket for $15 — on $25 seats — at the Erwin Center box office.

Spurs won't rest stars

Coaches often use their best players sparingly in preseason games, but with just two games left, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich plans to use at least a semblance of a regular season rotation. That means Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Antonio McDyess and Richard Jefferson.

"We'll probably get a little bit more of a rotation, similar to the minutes some of the guys are going to play in real games," Popovich said.

Dribbles and dunks

Durant scored 19 points in the third quarter recently against Phoenix. After the game, Suns guard Steve Nash was asked if the 6-foot-10-inch Durant reminds him of anyone. "He's like Dirk, but different," Nash told the Daily Oklahoman, referring to former Dallas Mavericks teammate Dirk Nowitzki. "(Durant) is more of a perimeter player. He's quicker than Dirk. He shoots off the dribble quicker than Dirk does. But he presents the same problem where guys can't contest his shot." ... Curtis Jerrells, the rookie from Baylor and ex-Del Valle High School star, is on the Spurs' roster, though he's considered a long shot to survive the final cut.
