Lets get this started

bee gees - how deep is your love

How deep is your love
I really need to learn
cause were living in a world of fools (other nba teams)
Breaking us down
When they all should let us be
We (spurs) belong to you and me

PPl like to say how deep is our love/team this season with the emergence of GHILL and Blair.....in comparison with previous spurs team? 05 team is still better imo.

09/10 roster
parker/hill
gino/mason
jeff/finley
duncan/blair
mcdyness/bonner/ratliff

04/05 roster
parker/udrih/wilks
ginoboli/barry
bowen/brown/glen robinson
duncan/horry/malik
rasho/nazr/machoman
defensive rating = 1st
offensive rating = 8th

is the 09/10 team roster trying to replicate 04/05 team
- where we had bigs helpin duncan and a decent perimeter backcourt?
- 04/05 team had everything, tough defense, offense, fluid ball movement, alot of hustle and more hungry

will the new guys bring the production this team has been missing from bowens defense,
horrys hustle on defense taking charges and clutch opportunity shootings,
brent barrys ball handling, distribution, 3pt clutch shootings
rashos shyness to body contact defense and one hand ft shots,
nazrs avg defense/offense,
maliks energy and intensity especially when he had the ball in his hand down low with the unlimited pumpfakes,
machomans superior i dont give a shit tech fouls take no tolerance from opponents :D:D
benos limited minute action where sometimes he looks good on the court a miniature of brents game.....

I think this years Spurs might have a slight edge. The defensive potential of this squad is pretty decent, but compared to 04-05, not gonna really match it.

On offense, I think this squad blows 04-05 out of the water.

this roster still needs at least half a season till we can evaluate the quality. what looks good on paper still needs to prove.
however, I can see that this roster is slightly deeper, but no way it is as balanced as the 2005 team and no way the top quality can be matched. 2005 the best PF ever was still in his prime, Manu had the best time of his career, Horry had the last really productive season, Bowen was still the best perimeter defender in the league.
Tony-Manu-Bruce-Horry-Tim.......what a great line up for defense AND offense, perfectly designed for the PO.

05 roster wasn't deep.
Pop played a 7 men rotation in the final 3 games
03 roster was deep

Well, it's definitely the most athletic team since Drob was around according to Duncan.
And, that was a long time ago...

No comparison. 2004-05 was better. At Center we had Nazr Mohammed/Rasho Nesterovic grabbing rebounds and blocking shots. At PF we had a Tim Duncan who was younger and more agile along with Robert Horry who could Play D, Pass and Shoot the 3. At SF we had a younger Bruce Bowen and Glenn Robinson who could come in for 10 minutes and light it up from midrange and post up. At SG - we had Brent Barry shooting the 3/Passing / and was considerably athletic at that time, and Manu at his Peak coming off the bench. At PG - TP driving the lane, and Beno Udrih with decent passing skills and a sweet Jumpshot. All areas were covered, Whereas this year we have the players but there are several ??????? Who is our Center Who is our Defensive wing specialist. Those are important questions that were answered in 04-05.

This team is definitely deeper IMO, but definitely not better..the NBA is a superstar's league..Duncan was in his prime at the time, and so was Manu..they're both past their primes now, which makes this no contest..

the deepest team Spurs had so far was 2002-2003
Tim Duncan
David Robinson
Malik Rose
Bruce Bowen
Emanuel Ginobili
Stephen Jackson
Tony Parker
Steve Kerr
Speedy Claxton
Steve Smith
Kevin Willis
Danny Ferry

this is the team that killed the 3peat lakers

IMO this team has potential to be deeper than that

The 2003 team was deep, but everybody on that team outside of Tim was a role player at the time..
