OSU had a bye week while USC was focused on Notre Dame. The press in LA has been writing Notre Dame this and Notre Dame that every day since. Plus USC plays in Eugene next weekend. This is the classic trap game.

i think it really could be. OSU is good, but USC is really starting to put it together on offense and their defense is outstanding. plus, and i don't want to jinx it, the beavs haven't won in the Coliseum since 1960.

hopefully, that continues.

If our O-line can give Canfield some time and he doesn't get rattled we can pull this off.

The Trojans are pretty good at getting revenge the year following an inexplicable loss, so I expect them to win this one.

The Ting Dynasty? Whoa...way to live in 2005 buddy.

USC has like what, 1 loss in the last 7 years at home? And it was a fluke loss at that

They should roll.

Oregon is the only losable game left on their schedule IMO. I actually think they're underdogs there.

The Gemini Method
10-23-2009, 05:56 PM
Yeah, Eugene is no joke for visiting teams, so I wouldn't be surprised if SC is underdogs going in. It also depends on whether Jeremiah Masoli is back to %100 next week. If he is, it should make for an interesting game. If USC makes it 2-0 after the next two weeks, they'll more than likely finish with only one loss. But, it is USC and you never know when you're riding the arm of a freshman QB.

i wouldn't be surprised at all if USC was an underdog in that game...and it wouldn't surprise me if they lost. as of right now...i think its a toss up. i hate playing in Oregon...

This isn't the same O that can put up 40 every week. The D is still great. Not as good as last year, but still great.

They'd get smoked by Bama or FLA, though.

I loved the Ericksen comparison to Lewis based upon each players ability to negatively affect through penalties/bone-headed plays.

Not sure I know who I'm pulling for here. I'd like USC to win so they are strong for UA's matchup, but, UA beat Oregon State, so that would improve their SOS, I guess...

Dirty play by Mays

DUNCANownsKOBE2
10-24-2009, 10:09 PM
Taylor Mays is overrated as fuck (and dirty for that matter). All this guy does is go for the big hit, I rarely see him make a play on the ball in coverage. A perfect example is Golden Tate's fade rout last week where Mays has perfect position to disrupt the play and instead goes to hit Tate after a he has possession.

The chances of UA beating USC are slim, so I'd much rather see OSU win so it bolsters a victory UA already has.

Imagine if USC actually plays a game where both the offense and defense are clicking. A tough win, but it is a win. Coming off an emotional win in South Bend you couldve seen this performance coming. It'll be interesting to see which USC team shows up next week. If it is the one that smoked Cal up North or is it the one where they step back to 2005 and it's a shoot-out. I don't think USC will make the NC game, but the future is bright with Barkley. Well, it wasn't beautiful, but it's still a W.

*no one has really been impressive in the top-ten all year, so it's still wide open.

With a loss to a team like Washington, you're not getting to the NC...and it is wide open, yes, but USC is not in the picture.

johngateswhiteley
10-25-2009, 10:55 PM
few things of note...

1) like last week, USC had a 20 point lead in the 4th only to give it away...these games weren't close, but ended up being. i wouldn't count on that continuing

2) oregon state is a good football team and certainly better than tennessee and miss state, who almost beat alabama and florida, respectively

...perspective, people. when a low-level pac-10 team can go into tennessee and beat their ass. shut the fuck up.

The Gemini Method

Uh, ranked 5th in the BCS does not implicate that USC is totally out of the picture. While I don't think USC will end up in the title game, it isn't necessarily out of reaching it at this point in the season. There are a ton of games left to play and there's no guarantee that neither of the 4 teams ahead of USC will win out. Also, yes I know, USC has to take care of its own schedule. I didn't expect my favorite team/alma mater to be in the running for the championship, I just want them to do the best they can. Whatever happens at the end of the season will be great, but the team is ahead of schedule when it is attempting to replace 9 starters on D and breaking in a freshman QB. One game at a time is the most important mantra and we'll see what's up.

We'll see. Your predictions of Oregon State blowing out the Trojans didn't come to pass. It'll be a tough game, but before you say USC is going to get blown out, they have not lost a game under Pete Carroll by what's considered a blowout margin. The Ducks are starting a 2nd and 3rd string secondary and have a defensive line that is smallish. The last time Oregon played anyone that mattered they got blasted.

It is a scary game, but that's what makes it exciting. The last time USC went up to Eugene they lost a close one and back then we had a 1st year starter in Sanchez. It should be a great game and I know the D is smarting after the past two 2nd halfs they've posted. Either way, the winner is on track to make it to the Rose Bowl, while the loser will have to hope other BCS teams fall--which isn't unlikely with the uneven play from all of college football.
