Hey everybody, this is my first time posting here. I am a student at IU and am a san antonio native, I have been looking forward to this game since i found out the spurs were goin to be playing down the street from me in July. My buddies and I will be repping our spurs jerseys and making sure spurs fans are heard at Assembly Hall. This is the first pro basketball played there since the 70s. Great place to play, and I cant wait to finally see Blair and the rest of the new guys in person. Ill let yall know how we looked after the game.

And once Murphy proves that 11M buys a better 3pt shooting big man than 3M does, then what?

I rather expect that Granger can outplay Finley and that Kobe can outplay Mason.

Now if Dahntay Jones outplays RJ, then we've got something to talk about.

Fuck, I couldn't go to sleep, I'm too excited to be following 4 games in one night. I just wish the Spurs game wasn't the only one watchable. the Dallas and Orlando games didn't overlap so much, and that LAL and Denver weren't playing a rematch from YESTERDAY. I know it's preseason, but seriously, how the fuck does that happen?

Hey, Im not saying Murphy is underpaid. But rather the kind of player Bonner should be. Shoot the 3 as much as you want. But hustle as well. Murphy has developed into a 3pt shooter and thats what most know him for. However he has always been a solid rebounder first and good shooter second.

If Bonner was as good as Murphy, he'd be making 11M instead of 3M.

He'd also be starting and no poster here would be complaining.

Bonner is what he is.

On the current Spurs roster, he's one of the top 4 PF/Cs on the team. Barring a trade or some unexpected development from Ian or Haislip, he will play about 20 minutes a night because he's better than those two players and Theo can't be counted on for more than 500 minutes over the course of the season.

Debate which 20 minutes he plays all you want, but he's playing those 20 minutes.

Jeff McDonald: Pop was very high on Mahinmi today before the game. Says he's been holding his own in practice. Stopped short of saying whether or not they plan to extend him. They've got until Oc.t 31.

Jeff McDonald: Even if the Spurs opt to extend Mahinmi, I don't see him being a rotation player this season unless someone gets hurt. Extending him basically just buys another season to evaluate him. If it doesn't work out, he's a pretty attractive trading chip (aka expiring contract) at this time next year

yeah, i don't see any way how D. Blair is going to be out of the rotation. D. Blair is already very good to began with, with the right amount of playing time, he's just gonna grow even better when the playoff comes around. My wish is the D. Blair is the 3rd big with T. I'd be much more willing to buy into that POV if someone actually proved that it was true. Especially in Bonner's case. Given his +/- numbers last year, I doubt you could establish any significant correlation that would support that view. I certainly haven't seen anyone try. Usually I see the topic changed to the Dallas series when I ask for actual proof.

That's the whole team. Do you have numbers that show that they were worse with Finley and Bonner on the court than the other options? And, if so, to what extent were they offset by any increase in offensive production?

To be quite clear. I have never tried to make a case for Bonner over any better options available. Just over lesser options. This year that would include Ian and Haislip. Since Ratliff can't play extended minutes, Bonner will play more than Theo by default.
