Without Pau, the Lakers would have had his bro, Marc who in my opinion will be >>> Pau.
The Lakers fucked up giving away Marc Gasol. Marc/Kobe/Artest on defense would have given new meaning to "No easy Layups".

why the hell is this the TNT game? Who gives a shit about the Clippers? Cavs/Celtics is an awesome start, and Lakers is good, but the Clippers?! wtf. Nobody cares about Blake Griffen that much, this isn't Lebron's first game where there was years and years of hype. He was just the number 1 pick, they have them every year.

Ring ceremony game + Blake Grffin's 1st game bonus + Clippers powerhouse this year.
last years ring ceremony was Cavs/Celtics. Ring ceremony isn't an excuse to have a shitty game. Nobody will be watching. Throw us a bone and atleast put Lakers/Spurs, Lakers/Blazers, Lakers/Nuggets, Lakers/anything. Nobody wants to watch the shitty Clippers. Blake Griffen at his best will be Tim Duncan, a great player nobody outside of his home market wants to pay to see play. And, he is half white, so he will be even more boring than duncan. And, the Clippers are cursed so he will be Tim Duncan without winning, just fundamentals and boringness.

Um, a few things....
1) Tim Duncan is also half-white
2) No one outside SA caring about him isn't cause of the player he is, it's cause he plays in SA. Different story if Boston got the top pick.
3) Have you ever watched Blake Griffin play? The biggest flaw in his game is that his post fundamentals are extremely raw and undeveloped. He's also known for great athleticism while Duncan is just the opposite....comparison makes no sense.

First of all, i know you dont even believ that.
Second of all, and i dont even believe im going to justify what you just saud with a counter argument, but taking away Pau, and replacing him with any 11-7 Center, would make the Lakers a 50-55 win first/second round playoff team.

No, it's not "stacked", it's top heavy. If it were "stacked" you'd have 9-10 guys that you'd be happy to have on the floor. Actually, you've got 7 - the current starters, Pau and Brown. Don't seriously tell me you trust Farmar/Vujabitch/Walton/Powell/Mbenga?

Make that TRIPLE. 28 to 9 in terms of FT attempt as of right now and despite that, this unbeatable Laker team is up by 1 at the end of the 3rd.
It's called an observation. It's the same shit you guys do when you say the Spurs tanked to get Tim when statistically, they didn't have the best odds and when you lose 4 players of your core, it's easy to finish with a terrible record.

IF the Lakers lost Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Derek Fisher, and say, Luke Walton, how many games can you win with the rest of the players. Bring in an old scorer who dominates the ball like say, Jamal Crawford...How many games?

Playoffs you're correct, but during the regular season a lot of teams play 9-10 deep for a lot of different reasons - matchups, tempo, hot/cold streaks, resting vets, etc. Would you like me to pull up 20 random boxscores from last year and we'll average the number of players per team who play over 5 minutes? Brown I already said I like, and Powell for what he is (an outside big). Sorry, we were talking about the playoffs? Given that it's the first game of the regular season, isn't it reasonable to assume that's what we're talking about? You really enjoy changing the goalposts, but it doesn't mean you win the argument, it means you're a manipulative fool.
It's funny that you accuse me of homerism when we aren't even talking about my team, which has not been mentioned once, and everyone around here knows I'm no homer (for example, see the pasting I copped when I posted that we would be going nowhere in the playoffs, and gave good reasons, about 2 weeks before the playoffs last season).

Just imagine the lashing you idiots are going to give the decent fans if the Spurs lose manana.
It's just one effing game.

I think the additions this off-season has pretty much destroyed any chance of humility or GOOD "juju" on ST the rest of the way.

Oh he has ball hog Bynum moves...too many maybe. He's spoon fed because if you give him the ball to go 1 on 1, he's a friggin' black hole...he ain't kicking it out.
Bynum's got offense in bunches, he has to work on his defense.

You said your top 6 players are basically All-Stars.
Then you said Fish was your 6th best player.
So I just wanted to clarify if you really thought Fish was an All-Star caliber player.
Hmm...ABSOLUTELY NOT...I think Brown is better than FIsher...though Fish has balls of steel in the clutch

I saw at least three Bynum plays where he was fed the ball, spun and created his own shot. As Allanon said, consistency and defense are his concerns, as well as injury.

Who the fuck plays thier 10th guy decent minutes?! Even "deep" teams dont do that. LOL.
Fuck, you people are obtuse. Read the whole discussion. We were talking about depth and injuries, so let's say you have 2 injuries, 10th man becomes 8th, do you happily play him decent minutes, or is it akin to pulling teeth?
In the case of the Fakers, it's be VBitch or Mbenga seeing those minutes (depending on who was injured) - would you be happy with that (aside from the obvious unhappiness associated with injuries)?
@ you actually thinking I give a fuck what you think
No, it's quite clear that you don't, and that you can't read, and that you choose to respond with strawmen and personal attacks, so why are you talking to me? Because you've got an anger problem over your 3" penis, obviously.

Bynum is pretty much a blackhole right now. He needs to understand he can send it back out to a guard and it can still comeback.
And don't expect many 26 point games by Drew when Pau is back.

Yes the most important thing is the regular season :rolleyes
Look Laker fans don't give a fuck about the regular season. It's only to see how many highlights Kobe can make and who else will step up to get ready for the playoffs. So when you're talking about team weaknesses that only come along a few times in the regular season when you're talking to fans of a team that has 15 Championships you look like an idiot. And yes you are a homer, but maybe you've finally seen the light. Or just a pathetic Laker hater that's just seen the Lakeshow win the Team of the Decade Title AGAIN at the expense of your beloved spurs.
See you in 4 months when you're bitching about how fucking terrible your deep bench players are. :tu

I was wondering why I didn't see many 1 on 1 moves from him tonight. From what I saw, most of his misses came from 1 on 1 play.
He is definitely great on a team. I don't think he is at all-star level yet until he can become consistent 1 on 1.

Yeh..Artest for the 2 or 3 minutes he got in the 2nd with the bench he looked GREAT. He passed up WAY too many opportunities tho where he needs to attack. He had a possession in the 4rth where he got it in the post and went straight to the rack and drew a foul. He needs to do that more often and his WIDE OPEN 3's will fall. I think Kobe was right when he said he isn't use to being this wide open.

Bynum shot 9/15 last night milkshake. How is that "turning into a blackhole". Do you even know what that word means?
Bynum took like one shot in the 4th quarter while Kobe did his ISO thing (which isn't the triangle at all by the way).
No shit. When he gets it he's shooting. I'd rather see Artest on the block more.
Yeah lets give it to the career 40% shooter instead of the 56% shooting big man.

Yeah it's not like Bynum scored 42 last season with Pau in the lineup or anything.
Do you guys realize how easy Bynum got those 26 last night?
I know you many Lakers fan have lots of Bynum crow to digest, but you need to get over it. Healthy Bynum = top 3 center in the NBA.

I agree...Bynum when healthy is a top 3 center. I agree. But EVERYTIME he touched the ball in the post last night...a shot went up. EVERYTIME. THAT IS A BLACKHOLE. Yes..he shot 9/15. Doesn't mean he WASN'T a blackhole last night.
And...right now...Pau is HEAD AND SHOULDERS a better offensive player than Drew and will be treated as such when he returns. Pau is and will be our 2nd option in the forseeable future.

Yet Bynum had two assists compared to 15 shots.
Kobe had three assists compared to 26 shots. Your logic makes no sense at all.
EVERYTIME. THAT IS A BLACKHOLE. Yes..he shot 9/15. Doesn't mean he WASN'T a blackhole last night.
No that isn't being blackhole especially when you're taking HIGH % shots that GO IN THE BASKET. You either don't understand the definition or just like to nit pick Bynum's performance irrationally.
And...right now...Pau is HEAD AND SHOULDERS a better offensive player than Drew and will be treated as such when he returns. Pau is and will be our 2nd option in the forseeable future.
He's not head and shoulders above Bynum offensively, but he's better.
I can see the Lakers riding Bynum the first half of the season and then ramping up Pau's touches the 2nd half of the season/playoffs.
Pau's nearing 30 and if Bynum keeps improving like he has been don't be surprised if Bynum becomes the 2nd option within a couple years.

10-28-2009, 04:05 PM
If 9/15 constitutes a blackhole, I think you can pretty much label any no. 2 or 3 player on any team. With Gasol out, it is was necessary for Bynum to be aggresive on both ends of the court. Instead of nitpicking, you should be excited at the proposition that Bynum is looking to be aggressive out of the gate instead of being hesitant and taking a good portion of the early season to find his way.

What is your defintion of a blackhole?
Mine is when the ball goes there...it doesn't come back out.
it has NOTHING to do with how many points you score...how efficiently you shoot...whether its a good or bad thing. Kobe was a blackhole when he scored 81. Kobe was NOT a blackhole last night.
EVERYTIME BYNUM GOT THE BALL IN THE POST - HE PUT IT UP.
I'm not saying its a bad thing...hell he shot 60%. And I'm not NITPICKING his game.
In another thread I said Bynum's game last night was an 8.5/9 out of 10. He played GREAT.
Doesn't change the fact that he was a blackhole last night.
And I could see a situation like that where they let Drew carry the load in the first half of the season. Pau is EXTREMELY unselfish and would probably have no problem with it as long as they are winning.
But the point stands....every so often when Drew gets the back on the block...he needs to kick it out and keep the defense honest. He is incredibly predicable right now.

Face it, your bench is not very deep. When Pau comes back, it'll be a little deeper, but in terms of quality it's Odom, maybe Brown and Powell, and not much else... Phil will probably make it work, but it's definitely your weakenss.
You're an idiot......
:rolleyes
You have two decent bench players, Odom and Brown. When Gasol returns to the bench it'll be a little deeper - you'll have 7 NBA players, not 6.
Idiot.
First off Farmar is actually pretty decent. But the main fact is that the Lakers will always have 2 of the 3 (Bynum, Gasol, and Odom) on the court at all times unless it's a blowout. You not recognizing that means you're an idiot.
I agree that the Fakers have a powerful team, and I understand that at least 2 starters will usually play with the bench, but face it - you're 7 deep.
I told this Purple and Gold fool about the Faker bench back in October, but he and other Faker fans denied that it would be a problem. What happened to that guy?
Here we are in the playoffs... and well looky here:
