Manu
Hill
Finley
Bonner

Pop needs to monitor minutes. Since four of those guys can shoot the three then the should be able to get off to a big lead and hand it over to Tim and Tony in the second quarter.

An MLB baseball city once put tire flattening stuff all around the car of some starting pitcher that was 0-5 million but their Popavich style coach kept starting.

Anyone know where Bonner and Finley park their cars?
Just follow T-Park, Mel and others to FinleyPops.

Before the end of the Season, you'll see this lineup

Duncan at Center, Blair at Power Forward, Bonner at Small Forward, Parker and Ginobili your guards. That's a pretty formidable front line with two All-Star guards.

You could also sub in McDyess for Duncan and put Duncan and PF.

Fabbs

Which city and pitcher?
I can't remember, I'm thinking Mets but i cant recall exactly.

For T_Porkle, Torre might be a good choice if he screws up and turns a few more playoff wins into losses. This year was extremely Poplike, definitely.

You don't have to go to a town hall meeting to talk to RC or Pop. I'm assuming you wouldn't say anything, your being an internets tough guy and all.

And no way in hell Manu starts, to whoever said it earlier in the thread. Did you even bother to listen to the practice report yesterday? He admitted to not being 100% there as far as basketball skills.

no i didnt listen to it. but if he's still trying to get into game shape, what better way than to start the first few games. We can also see how the 2nd unit does without him. First few games of the season, like it really matters

The only pitcher I can remember that lost a bunch of consecutive games was Anthony Young, back when he was pitching for the Mets in the '90s.

Expected.

McDyess isn't 100%

Ginobili isn't as well.

Doesn't want to get Mason and Hill out of their respective roles too much.

Its not about who starts, but who finishes the game.

Because when your trying to ease someone back to heavy minutes from a stress fracture, you start him.

Yeah, makes sense.

thispego
10-27-2009, 09:37 PM
we're trying to ease him? he's healed, he's been off all summer. i'm not saying plays him 35 minutes but the beginning of the game is always the least physical and is a good way for a player and team to set the tone for a game and get into a rhythm

OrEmuN
10-27-2009, 09:54 PM
I think we are wrapping up our 3 stars in wool and go easy during regular season, get the 8th seed and win it all. So we are going with this lineup

PG - Hill
SG - Bogans
SF - Hairston
PF - Finley
C - Bonner

Off the bench - Mahinmi, Mason, Blair, Ratliff, Jefferson, McDyess
IR - Duncan, Parker, Ginobili

Yes ease him in.

Bring him off the bench for a while, gradually bring up his minutes.

He's not even in shape, let alone game shape.

10-27-2009, 10:05 PM
i just dont see why he can't be "eased in" and also start. anyways, it's just a prediction, i'm not saying it's the right or wrong thing to do. more than one way to skin a cat.

10-28-2009, 06:15 AM
I also think it will be

Parker
Mason
Jefferson
Bonner
Duncan

I don't see Manu starting, and Dice will hopefully take Bonner's place sometime later this season.

RuffnReadyOzStyle

Attention: those in this thread shittfighting for the first two pages!

Guys! All that wasted energy! Why don't you use it positively and go and bait some Faker fans in the NBA forum about how thin their bench is! :lmao

RuffnReadyOzStyle
10-28-2009, 06:26 AM
As for the question at hand, I'd start Dice anyway - this year we need to get away from Bonner as much as possible if we are going to get back to a win by defense philosophy, and that means starting games with serious enough D that it sets a tone for the rest of the game. To me, that screams Dice, even if he only plays half a game at this point. He was always very strong for the Pistons in the 1st quarter and should be here too.

However, Pop is a coaching godhead (except when it comes to rookie PGs), so I'll defer to his greater wisdom, whatever it may be.

I'd like to see:

Parker
Mason
Jefferson
Duncan
Dice

...and the order I'd be using them off the bench
Manu
Hill
Blair
Bonner/Finley
Ratliff

Now THAT is a deep bench.

(I was trying to point out to the Faker fans in the NBA forum that their team is top heavy, and beyond Odom and Brown they don't have much of a bench. Predictably, they disagreed and were ugly in doing so :lol )

I am not questioning you acumen at all - you may well be right - but I'm wondering why Finley is even in the discussion? A slimmed-down Mason seems the obvious choice to start for me.
