Lakers' Pau Gasol to miss Friday's game (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blog/2009/10/lakers-pau-gasol-lakers-injury-mavericks.html)

Lakers forward Pau Gasol missed practice again today because of his strained right hamstring and the team said that Gasol also will not play in Friday night's game against the Dallas Mavericks at Staples Center.

However, the Lakers said they hope Gasol will be able to play Sunday, in the team's third game of the season, when they host the Atlanta Hawks.

Gasol has been bothered by the hamstring injury for more than two weeks and he missed the Lakers' last six exhibition games.

Definately a winnable game for the Mavs - but they will probly lose.

If our number two guy goes down, then the MAvs should handle the Lakers.

So is our number 2 guy, and the Mavs let Andre Olajuwon Blatche beast on them Tues. Expect a career day from Bynum.

Dampier always seems to do well against Drew. let's see how 2morrow shakes out.

Interesting, Lakers #2 guy is down and they're playing an above average team. I want to see how this goes down. Good luck to both squads. :toast

He may not play Sunday.

Pau-t! (http://lakersblog.latimes.com/lakersblog/2009/10/pau-gasol-out-friday-vs-mavericks.html)

Pau Gasol will miss Friday's game against the Mavs, thanks to the same strained hammy that kept him out of the opener. The LAT's Broderick Turner with the report.

The way things are looking, Sunday is probably a long shot as well. Gasol didn't practice Thursday, and the Lakers likely won't let him on the floor until he gets at least one full speed run under his belt and responds the next day without pain. Hamstrings are too temperamental to mess with. Until then, it's a question of playing the waiting game, which sucks relative to Hungry Hungry Hippos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVWdf1Ky2bI&feature=related).

It was always going to be Wednesday's game at Houston.

Just more All-Star exposure for Andrew. No biggie, the Lakers resting Pau by design. He would be playing if this were the playoffs.

So far the beginning of the season has been a prime opportunity for the Lakers to be learning how to play with Pau on the bench.
