Why is our next game not until Thursday? That's like a 4 day gap? Does that usually happen? And then we have a back to back.

You act like you're on the court, haha.

No its not common but it happens at least once a year.

I think it's a good thing. They'll be able to get some practices in, Pop's always said getting decent practices in during the season is hard becuase of the schedule.

That's the NBA.

3 games in 4 nights, then 4 days off, then a B2B from Utah to Portland.

Then when they get back from Portland they don't leave Texas for more than 4 weeks, with only a couple of quick trips to Dallas and Houston taking them away from San Antonio.

I like the extra practice time before going up against two good teams back 2 back. The team is capable of interesting line-ups, this gives Pop some time to tinker with stuff. :)

four days gives us time to savour our victories, as well as build chemistry in practices now that our guys have some real PT together behind them for the first time.

The old codgers like McDyess, Finley, Duncan and others could use the rest.

I'm sure Duncan enjoyed his day off today.

At least both games are on National TV (TNT & ESPN). 4 out of our first 5 games are on National TV.

What stinks about long homestands and many days off early in the season is that it means grueling road trips and lots of games later in the season. This could be turned into a positive, as the team should be deep enough that they don't wear down, and a little adversity always seems to bring them closer together.

You probably want a good test going into the playoffs so tough games are good for the team IMO.

while I'm sure the road trips will be daunting when going through them, I agree with you. If the road stints had all been in the first half of the season then any losses could be excused with the phrase "early season road games."

However, with the extra time in Texas comes less travel on out of shape bodies, more practices, and more time for the team to develop a strong game/chemistry at home. All of which allows for a better chance of success on the road later.

Time to develop the team followed by chaotic tests is much better than the other way around.
