Manu said when he handed it off that he could still feel it moving and it was just dizzy. Then it came out that the bat had died. Then another release said it wasnt dead and that it flew off.

I think it was alive when Manu handed it off and it either died later from internal injuries or the staff killed it, then they said it just "flew off" to avoid any confrontation with PETA or the like.... But thats just my personal thoughts.

I think it flew off...that's why Manu had to get rabies shots. Either that or they tested the body and it had rabies and that's why he had to get rabies shots. If they had the body they would be able to determine if it had rabies and he wouldn't have had to get those shots.
