Spurs are at number 5, but in my opinion should be number 6, with the mavs on 5, and the cavs on 7

I also think the raptors should be @ number 8

Geez, what a nice thing to say. I don't think the Spurs sweep the Celts though, you'd prolly take us to six.

By next week the spurs will be in top 3. Celtics are lucky the refs like them. I can't even count how many moving screens ive seen that have not been called.

Suns are undefeated, and the Spurs had a bad hiccup in chicago.

It's only been 3 games, we'll get a better reading after 25 games or so.

Does it really matter if we're at the top of the power rankings ever? even before the playoffs? Pop would be the first to say that the regular season is all preparation for the real deal...The celtics are good, no doubt. They like to be good early, we like to be good when it counts.

Very true. Spurs know when to step it up a notch or two.

Power rankings is more like a survey. Regardless, these rankings don't matter when the playoffs approach.

hey i aint trying to put the spurs down... i love the spurs....
your serious? the spurs beat the celtics last year in the season!! when you guys won the second one, with your whole team, and you know ginobili wasnt playing and we missed 6freethrows in a row only to lose by 3pts. now this is before we had this entire team!! and you can make your case about wallace, but the spurs match up very nice against your celtics, and when you say playoffs, the one team not scared of anyone is the spurs, and u should really not act like you can sweep the spurs because if we were to meet in the finals, and i hope we do, you would be dumb to bet on an undefeated finals team

Spurs have so much work to do this season before the playoffs its unreal.

I still see LA and Boston being in a league of their own. Boston's defense and game closing ability this year has a chance to be flat out nasty. Ugh. Can you imagine the jerkoffathon if we get an LA-Boston rematch in the finals?

I'm glad the Spurs are at 5 or whatever. Thats just the way they like it, no pressure at the top. The Spurs will fly under the radar like they always seem to do since the media says so lol and then come playoff time, they'll start destroying teams and crushing hopes. Then at the end of the year, they'll be #1 when it really counts.

I imagine the Celts and the Lakers will float around the top 3 for most of the season. They are both full of talent and experienced. Not to mention the press loves them.
I am more interested to see how the Spurs start climbing up the ranks as they begin to gel. Of course, it all comes down to health at the end anyway.

Since no team has actually proved anything at this point. (First 5 games of the season) I would say the ranking is a fair assessment.

Fortunately...rankings don't mean squat.

Don't you know NBA’s already made a trophy for Participition Winner Of the Year? And there's no doubt Cels or LA will get it.

Rookie Rankings: Point guards all the rage (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=nba_com-rookie.rankings.week1-20091104&prov=nba_com&type=lgns)
By Drew Packham, NBA.com

7. DeJuan Blair, San Antonio Spurs

It's only been a week, but already it appears Blair could finish the season as the top rookie rebounder. Through three games, Blair is pulling in 8.3 boards in about 20 minutes of action. Behind Blair, at 5.0 per game, is New Jersey's Terrence Williams. Blake Griffin may give Blair a run for the title when he comes back from his knee injury, but for the near future Blair should continue to dominate the category.

1. Brandon Jennings, Milwaukee Bucks
2. Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors
3. Jonny Flynn, Minnesota Timberwolves
4. Tyreke Evans, Sacramento Kings
5. Terrence Williams, New Jersey Nets
6. Chase Budinger, Houston Rockets

8. DeMar DeRozan, Toronto Raptors
9. Omri Casspi, Sacramento Kings
10. Ty Lawson, Denver Nuggets

Doc Rivers has the Celtics saying and doing all the right things. Before the first game of the season, he even said something like "we're not goin in here to beat Cleveland. We're here to win a championship." Dude's becoming a pretty good coach.

The nba will forever love its golden childs,(LA.Boston). That will never change. I like how small market team(spurs) does big market things(Win win and win some more). Keep your rankings. Give me the ring.:ihit

Way too early in the season for this. Top 5 is right

Cavs at #6? No. Lower than that.

Suns should be higher than where they are also
