Dirk was amazing. Have not seen a performance like that, probably ever. Simply stunning. With their new team, and a guy that is capable (although I know it does not happen all of the time) of doing that, they are going to be a tough team to beat.

Just have to see how Howard fits when he gets back.

Dirk never chokes in finals though. For the failure in 06, I'd rather blame Dirk's surroundings like JET, Stack, Josh etc... Actually you shouldn't have expected Dirk to do better than he did there with a sore ankle.

Pau's absence/injury hasn't devalued himself a little bit, but oppositely accentuated his value. Everyone knows how much Pau weighs in LA considering how bad Lakers suck without him and it's now safe to say without Gasol, the Lakers are just a scrub team like they used to be during the blank era between Shaq and Pau.

Well, he was hurt and hobbled and out there playing anyway. You guys bitched and whined about how Timmy was "banged up" when the Mavs sent them fishing both times, so it's a little hypocritical to hold Dirk to a different standard. Mavs fans don't make excuses like some whiny bitch Spurs fans. He was hurt, not his normal self, Mavs lost. End of Story. He hurt himself in this game and was never the same after that:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=270328006

That's partly why they struggled down the stretch after clinching the #1 seed. He developed bone spurs and was only about 70% of himself the rest of the way. Avery was the coach then and didn't believe in making excuses, so not a lot was said about it at the time.

Doesn't matter if you'd take LeBron, Kobe, Wade etc... In their case and if possible, they'd enshrine such a performance into the HoF.

Dirk has no support by the media, because he's not interesting for them. He will never get the same credits like KB, LBJ, Duncan, Garnett or anyone else of the star-players. Who is he? In their opinion, he's a a lanky, white, tall European-guy who is shooting the three and using the jumpshot. Dirk ain't a screamer. Dirk ain't tough. He has no street cred. He isn't a thug. He goes about his business the best way he can. Dirk would never say that he's the best player in the world -> http://www.hoopsvibe.com/nba-blog/wh...t-ar48724.html

Dirk doesn't get arrested and hasn't been accused of anything besides being in the gym too much. Dirk isn't going to give many hot-sports-opinions about other players or get in many fights. Who truly despises Dirk? Simply: That isn't sexy for the media and thus, they don't favour him and many fans have a bad impression of him.

Maybe due to the reasons I named. Who knows? But it's definitely a pity. It's up there with T-Mac's 13, that's for sure.

Btw, it was just 2 points shy of the NBA record for the 4th quarter. That one is still set by Wilt Chamberlain in his 100-point-game against the Knicks in 1962. If Kidd hadn't inbounced the ball to Terry but to Dirk (just before Dirk left the game with 30 seconds to go), Dirk would have gotten fouled instead of Terry and I honestely, I would not have been surprised if he had tied that record.

Edit: And he tied the NBA record for most FT's made in one quarter with 14. Some players have achieved that so far. Michael Jordan (twice), Adrian Dantley, Rick Barry, Pete Maravich and Johnny Newman.
