son the point is that Mav fans have absolutely nothing to talk shit about. they don't have a leg to stand on. funny how some of them wanna talk smack because of one awful playoff game from us. well lets take a look at their history ...

- had the #1 seed only to get curb stomped by the #8 seed GSW
- choked away the 06 finals after being up 2-0. classic
- have been completely owned by the Hornets over the last 2+ years
- November 4, 2009

You are correct. Since December 1, 2007, 121-63 has won 10 out of 14 games against our boys in blue, including a playoff series win. You could say that they've gotten the best of us over that time since they won 2/3's of the games. But if you want to bring up "history" and "ownage," 10 out of 14 isn't ownage. This is ownage:

December 3, 2000, Dallas, TX: Mavericks 106, Hornets 96.
January 17, 2001, Dallas, TX: Mavericks 91, Hornets 90.
March 24, 2001, Charlotte, NC: Mavericks 103, Hornets 100.
November 6, 2001, Dallas, TX: Mavericks 110, Hornets 92.
November 21, 2001, Charlotte, NC: Mavericks, 89, Hornets 78.
December 26, 2002, 121-63 City: Mavericks 83, 121-63 81.
April 1, 2003, Dallas, TX: Mavericks 95, 121-63 86.
November 11, 2003, Dallas, TX: Mavericks 125, 121-63 97.
February 4, 2004, 121-63 City: Mavericks 113, 121-63 104.
November 3, 2004, 121-63 City: Mavericks 106, 121-63 91.
February 2, 2005, 121-63 City: Mavericks 90, 121-63 82.
February 28, 2005, Dallas, TX: Mavericks 90, 121-63 86.
March 21, 2005, Dallas, TX: Mavericks 103, 121-63 86.
November 12, 2005, 121-63 City: Mavericks 109, 121-63 103.
December 3, 2005, Dallas, TX: Mavericks 97, 121-63 88.
December 31, 2005, 121-63 City: Mavericks 95, 121-63 90.

March 27, 2007, 121-63 City: Mavericks 105, 121-63 89.

I'll admit, 10 out of 14 is impressive. But let's not get carried away. If you want to talk about history and ownage, 21 out of 21 is much better. I know you're not aware of this since you didn't become a fan of 121-63 until March of 2008 when it was obvious they were going to make the playoffs, but know your place, son. God Bless.

It's 10 out of the last 14. You can own us all you want. Just like the Warriors own us. Doesn't matter since 121-63 is a one-man team and isn't anything more than first-round fodder for the likes of the Lakers, Spurs and Nuggets.

Hey, Stephen A. Smith is a 121-63 fan. Props on the win the other night when we blew all those free throws. I know that's a big milestone in franchise history for 121-63.

Would you say the pinnacle of 121-63's history is losing to the Spurs in the second round on your home court in Game 7? That must have been an exciting season for you guys.

my caps lock is fucked up. im happy it bothers you though. our one-man team owns your "complete team" and we always will. btw, mavs aren't going to get anywhere near the 2nd round this year. they are going to lose in the 1st round, just like we will. mavs are a 1st round fodder as well dude. maybe this year, you will actually have to face a healthy team in the 1st round. do you honestly think the mavs will do shit in the postseason? no, they won't, and if we are fortunate enough to draw the mavs in the 1st round, we will win in 6 games or less, easily.

almost as exciting as losing the finals in 6 games after being up 2, to the worst team to ever win an nba title. or being the only #1 seed to lose to an 8 seed in a 7 game series(didn't even make it to that 7th game, eh). or november 4, 2009.its funny how you talk like the mavs have done better. they know better than anyone that having the best regular season record doesn't even land you in the 2nd round.

Okay, Stephen A.

our one-man team owns your "complete team" and we always will.

Just like the Mavs were going to "always" own 121-63 after beating them 21 straight times? Listen son, these things go in cycles. I know you've only been a 121-63 fan since May of 2008, but sometimes you eat the bar and sometimes the bar eats you. The worm will turn again at some point.

btw, mavs aren't going to get anywhere near the 2nd round this year.

We'll find out one way or another in April.

do you honestly think the mavs will do shit in the postseason?

I have no idea. It's November. There will be trades and February buyouts. I know that you've never followed a team from training camp to 2nd-round exit before, but rosters are fluid and there are also things called injuries. It's impossible to predict what will happen in April and May at this point. Nobody predicting the Lakers to make a Finals before they traded for Gasol. Nobody could've seen Dirk getting hurt and them losing to an 8-seed as a result. Or Garnett getting hurt and the Celtics failing to return to the Finals. When you've followed basketball for more than 2 months, you figure these things out for yourself.

if we are fortunate enough to draw the mavs in the 1st round, we will win in 6 games or less, easily.

The 4th seed doesn't meet the 7th or 8th seed in the first round. You guys will most likely end up playing the Lakers or Spurs.

It's not like the Mavs would have been the best team to ever win an NBA title. I still can't quite understand what's so unbelievable about a team that had a top 3 player in the NBA, Shaq as his sidekick, a supporting cast that included 2 future HoFers + one of the most clutch 3 point shooters in the NBA, all the while being coached by Pat Riley, winning a championship. Maybe the Mavs choked, but Miami was pretty good.

Miami wasn't as good as you are making them sound. Wade was a one-man team that year. shaq was pretty much non-existant, antoine walker was half-decent, as was Po-Z and Zo. I think they were a weak team for an NBA champion. Miami was was easily the weakest team to win a title this decade.

almost as exciting as losing the finals in 6 games after being up 2,

The furthest 121-63 has ever made it in the playoffs is the semifinals. You must have been really excited to see them make it so far in 2008. I bet it was exciting. Props on that .

to the worst team to ever win an nba title.

The Mavs were not in existence in 1978. Dallas was granted an NBA franchise and began play in 1980. The worst team to ever win a title was the 1977-78 Washington Bullets, who finished 44-38 with a point differential of 0.9. The Mavs lost the 2006 NBA Finals to the Miami Heat, which went 52-30 in the regular season, had a point differential of 4.2, beat the #1 seed Detroit Pistons (65-17) in 6 games, and were led by Dwyane Wade, who is universally acknowledged as one of the top 3 players in the league.

or being the only #1 seed to lose to an 8 seed in a 7 game series(didn't even make it to that 7th game, eh).

Yep. Our best player was hurt. No excuses though, Golden State just played better.

or november 4, 2009.

I gotta give 121-63 props for an early-season win in November, you're right about that.

its funny how you talk like the mavs have done better.

Well they have. The Mavericks advanced to the Conference Finals in 1988, where they lost to the Showtime Lakers in 7 games. They advanced to the Conference Finals again in 2003, where they lost to the eventual champion Spurs in 6 games after Dirk dislocated his knee in Game 3. They also advanced to the NBA Finals in 2006, where they lost to the Heat in 6 after winning the first two games.

121-63 has advanced to the Semifinals on 5 separate occasions:

- 1993, when they lost to the Knicks
- 1998, when they lost to the Bulls
- 2001, when they lost to the Bucks
- 2002, when they lost to the Nets
- 2008, when they lost to the Spurs

Mavs should've won that series, but they lost to a team with a HOF coach, a dominant center, an elite perimeter scorer, and a supporting cast of veteran role players that complemented their stars very well. Where did we see that before? Oh yeah, that's the same formula the Lakers used from 99-01. The Heat weren't as good as the Shaq/Kobe Lakers, but they modeled their team after them.

They beat two 60-win teams en route to the title. That's pretty impressive.

The 1st seed plays the 8th seed.
The 2nd seed plays the 7th seed.
The 3rd seed plays the 6th seed.
The 4th seed plays the 5th seed.

The top four seeds have home-court advantage, except in the case of 4-5, in which the team with the better regular-season record has HCA. The 4 winners advance to the semifinals, which is also best of 7 in a 2-2-1-1-1 format. Then the two teams left standing meet in the conference finals (which 121-63 has never advanced to). The Conference Champion meets the East Champ in what is called the NBA Finals. The team with the best regular-season record will have home court advantage in a 2-3-2 format. The NBA Champion is awarded the Larry O'Brien Trophy.

Let's not give Miami too much credit. That team sucked balls by "championship team" standards and I'll say it until the end, got bailed out by some horrendous officiating. The Mavs themselves would have been remembered as a weak champion too, though.

No, that team was very solid. Let's not sell ourselves short to make it more "acceptable" to the other posters. That team was good, what happened was just unfortunate. We were first in the league in offense, even better than the ridiculously offensively talented Suns team, and 7th in opponent PPG.

Teams with over 50 wins don't suck. The worst championship team ever is the 78 Bullets. That was the year Portland was defending their title and started out 50-10 before Walton broke his foot. The Blazers were by far the best team in basketball that year, and when Big Red went down, that opened the door for a bunch of pretenders to grab the title. The Bullets went 44-38 and had a point differential of 0.9. They beat a 47-35 Sonics team in the Finals. Seattle started out 5-24 or some shit before rallying to make the playoffs.

The Mavs won 60 games that year and beat the defending champs on the road to advance. They obviously weren't the 2001 Lakers, but a "weak" champion they wouldn't have been.
