Me .. haha I wish.

I'd go with Buckethead. His playing is technically brilliant but the music he makes actually sounds incredible as opposed to a dying crow which is the sound some 'shredding' assumes.

I'm fully convinced at this point that Buckethead is the most talented guitarist of our times...if not ever. His body of work is unmatched and no one is even close to his diversity in volume or quality.

I'm not even sure he's human. His fingers are amazingly long almost inhuman. He's got speed but I couldn't say if he was the fastest ever.

yea i go with BH also...but MAB is fucking insane, not sure he is a better guitarist, but he seems faster

Not that interested in shredders, which is why I would say EVH cause he sounds the best while doing it, but isn't the fastest.

Some of buckethead's stuff is good. I like King James.

See this, I agree with, a lot of shredding is pure mindless droning, which is why it doesn't contribute too much to guitar playing. I really hate Yngwei's playing even though he is so talented. EVH is one of the top 10 guitarists of all time.

But my point in this thread was , what actually qualifies as good shredding. BH can actually get shit to sound good while palying super fast while others just play the same licks over and over.

Some of buckethead's stuff is good. I like King James.His versatility is what gets me.

Peppers Ghost is a pretty amazing album

Then his work with Travis on the Dragons of Eden CD was pretty unbelievable too.

Frankenstein Brothers is awesome and cornbugs is entertaining.

The list of quality work extends way past a few good albums top to bottom there are at least 12 very very good CDs out there. Most timeless artist spanning 2 or 3 decades can't attest to that.


Not even mentioning thatopsis or Praxis which are fucking awesome.

You should check out a Real Diamond in the Rough, then. I think most, if not all of it, is on YouTube. The coolest thing for me about Dragons of Eden is the title, of course, and some of the track names come from the Carl Sagan book of the same name. Thematic consistency is great.

Al is pretty sick.
Really all teh ones mentioned are.
Everytime I try to make a list of best shredders or best metal guitarists or best guitarists or whatever, it always changes.
