EM-V-P! That is the luxury of having Kobe on your team, MVP of the league at this point. Bron just isn't there yet.

Impressive...

Cant say anything bad about the Lakers so far really, other than playing Kobe too many minutes this early in the season.. say they need Pau back especially in that respect... lighten Kobe's workload.

Andrew Wilt-Kareem Bynum's also gotta man the hell up and not sit out with a boo boo on his arm if he wants to earn his name.

No point playing injured 5th game into the season - even if it wasnt major.. Especially when Kobe can win the damn game by himself.

He moved the ball well and had a sweet pass to Artest who blew the dunk and Lukes assist.

True. He does move the ball well. I don't hate Luke Walton, but you're seeing what happens when he tries to create his own shot off the dribble.

Plus muthafuckin 1. His work in the post has been superb. THAT'S how you adjust your game with age. Besides I would much rather see him in the post then jacking up 3's all day like he's been known to do sometimes in the past.

It was pretty crazy to see Kobe pass Iverson on all-time scoring list while playing against him.

Kobe is now 16th on the all-time scoring list and will likely be 11th or 12th by the end of this season.

Man, mad props to anyone who comes off winning a championship, immediately starts thinking repeat and busts his ass to develop a reliable post game to compensate for his declining athleticism. So much for my prediction that he'd take a step back cause of age and declining athleticism. The funniest part is, younger players with a post game that's extremely raw like Dwight, Amare, Lebron, Nene and Oden are gonna watch Kobe torch their team up in the post, and the thought, "Huh, this game might have been a lot different if I was the one who convinced Olajuwon to work with me all summer, I should beg the guy to mentor me next summer and pray to god he's not busy," will occur to none of them.

I actually missed Lebron's name, and Howard already has Ewing..Amare couldn't even touch a basketball..none of the other guys mentioned are notables though..

If it was so simple, you would see it a lot more often..not everybody can get the same treatment..

I see fans always asking for a guy on their team to work with a past legend..it doesn't just happen..

Be real... Akeem even did interviews explaining that Kobe actually asked him last year for the get together. All these guys have schedules that are insane and they were never able to coordinate it. Akeem said he was honored to help and that nobody has asked him before. If Dwight, Lebron, or some scrub asked him for help I have no doubts a guy of Akeems character would oblige.

HarlemHeat37
11-07-2009, 05:44 AM
Dwight/Lebron, yes..I don't think a guy that isn't top-tier could get the same attention..I guess it's just my opinion..

Non-superstars in the NBA have a much different schedule than the top-tier guys..less appearances, less meetings, less shoots for TV..why haven't any of them reached out to him before?..

Actually Hasheem Thabeet also received lessons from him around the same time. http://dimemag.com/2009/09/hakeem-olajuwon-works-out-kobe-bryant-hasheem-thabeet/

It really is about willingness and ability to learn. ohh and Kobe was not to bad in the post to begin with either.

My reaction exactly, he'd help Kobe out but he wouldn't help Lebron out :lol? Here's why he helped Kobe and didn't help Lebron, Lebron isn't capable of going up to somebody and asking that person to help him with something. Admitting to Hakeem that he has a better post game than Lebron would make Lebron's head explode cause of his ego.

Regardless of Hakeem, a SF who is 6'8" 260 with a post game as shitty as his isn't doing everything he can to win.

Gasol (M) was bitched slapped by benja last night.

Nah, I wouldn't say that; Benga had 5 ps 13 rbds. Gasol (M) had a pretty solid game. 10 pts 7 rebds.

Ever since AI came back, Gasol's numbers have gone down. He's not getting plays called for him in the post anymore; most of his shots are putbacks.

Once they get things settled down in Memphis in a few weeks, I'm sure Marc's numbers will be back up.

Kobe is arguably a Top 5 post player in the NBA right now, skill wise. He basically has the option now to take bigger defenders off the dribble, or post up smaller defenders. When LA gets Gasol back he'll be unguardable.

Nah, Gasol was shit on last night. Terrible defense. Sloppy, soft offense.

Of course those numbers won't be W's. Someone's gotta rebound on that team. Randolph can't be bothered.

Naw, this one is not on AI, give this glorious credit to my main man Z-Bo. I don't even have to look at his fantasy numbers, he's giving me 20/10 every night, and Marc hates him for it. Now if I could only get Al Jefferson in 20/10 mode.

Marc just hasn't been the same since AI's back...immediate drop off the day AI came back.

Imagine sharing the rock with AI, ZBo, Mayo and Gay. :lol

Terrible defense? mBenga had 5 points. Lamar fouled out with 3 points? That's 8 total points. How much better could he do defensively? :lol

Grizz were killed by Kobe (Mayo) and Artest (Randolph)

I think he had a pretty good game...they just weren't looking to him for scoring. I think he had 1 post play the entire game, 1 bad shot and the rest he got off garbage plays.

1 rock and 4 ballhogs ahead of him ain't easy.
