View Full Version : San Antonio just looks old...

Sorry, I was going to make this thread after the Utah game, but it's obvious now. Father time has caught up with SA.....mainly Duncan. Seriously in the 4th quarter Oden got a rebound over Duncan and then had a put back layup that Duncan didn't even try to contest...it made me want to cry and I'm not even a Spurs' fan. Duncan is going to fall off a cliff this season, I saw the same thing happen with Olajuwon, so I know what I'm talking about here. When a big man goes down....he goes down hard. Duncan has hit that wall.

SA doesn't really have any explosive players at all (seriously, they have no fire..and they're exremely soft in the middle) They look old and they're being out hustled. Normally a old team doesn't start showing their flaws until later in the season, but this team is showing them from the get go (so it isn't going to get much better)...the window has officially closed. It's over SA fans.

They're eatin' Duncan's lunch and pretending like they ain't so they can keep getting their fill at an easy clean.

It's pitiful & sad, like when Jordan came back and everybody fed on him like zombies.

Because they are old. And contrary to what many believe, they aren't going to magically start looking and playing younger either.

1st quarter is killing the Spurs. Keep getting beat of the draw, it is nothing but uphill.

It's comforting for a defense to play against this Duncan. It's like shaved pussy.

God damn, Culburn...you're only funny about 20% of the time, but when you're on, you're ON! (Even though you can't spell worth a fuck.)

duncan has been wearing a knee brace from what i've seen and this probably reflects how his knees are feeling. theres not doubt the spurs are aging, especially since they signed a couple of age weary free agents.

agree... and when you're advocating a guy with a bald spot (Manu) as a main go to guy...you're in trouble...

Even as a Spurs fan, I have to admit that it was disconcerting to see a team that, after 4 days of rest, look sluggish, overmatched and passive in a road game against Utah. Don't know quite what to make of that piss-poor effort.

Their effort and energy was sub-par, their interior defense was as soft as tissue paper and Duncan, and even the younger guys, all looked a step slow. They simply couldn't match Utah's physicality or effort. After 4 days of rest, I expected to see a team that looked energized, vibrant and active.

Most teams can play well at home. My concern with the Spurs is their consistent poor showings in road games, specifically back-to-backs. This dates back to last year.

For now and until I see road performances to the contrary, I can't even begin to argue against the point of the original poster.

They should have gotten Timmy some help 3 or 4 years ago. They really sucked the life out of his career.

Seriously, besides looking old, slow and extremely pathetic what is their motivation? Besides winning b2b, what else is there left to do. The spurs will never win another championship, let alone a b2b.......they know this and there is NO motivation at all. None.

3 or 4 years ago. The Spurs were winning championships. Not sure what you mean by "more help" TP and MG were great.

The Spurs look old, but also it seems like they are just don't want to play these meaningless November games.

I thought the Spurs would be LA's main competition. It's probably going to be Denver again and Portland. Still early and SA might just be sluggish.

They should have thought about extending his career. It was obvious the workload they were asking from him was way too much and would bite them down the line. Control the paint offensively and defensively pretty much by himself. It's back breaking work.

I have a feeling that a lot of you will be singing a different tune about 20 games from now.

All this team has to do is find itself. :flag:

I think its really difficult with a team with a bunch of new players and 2 of the spurs best players that didn't play all summer too look good so far they almost beat a blazers team if roy and blake dont make fluke shots and boozer dosent have a career night the spurs will be the ones laughing at the end

But, that ain't what happened. Roy, Blake and the Blazers answered the alarm bells, Boozer lit an ass sky high and we're the ones laughing.

You'll be fine. You won't ring, but, you'll probably not let the Mavs steal yer cookie again.

They will be alot better then this. But yeah there are weaknesses that I don't think they will be able to overcome to go deep into the playoffs.

sadly it'll get even worse than present as the Skunks continue to suck and eventually decide to tank this season and the next one or two.

The pisser is I never had a bad thought in my gourd for them until I came here. Sure, head-to-head, but, it wasn't personal. They served me so many times in heading the Suns off at the pass. I was so grateful so many times.

I still remember Daddy charging out to Duncan and him hittin' that 3. I about shit myself.

Misty watered colored memories of the way we were.

I can't believe Spurs fans need a fan of another team to tell them this.

Tim has had to dominate games both offensively and defensively. You know how fucking hard that is. Not even Kobe or Shaq have taken that responsibility for as long as Tim has. Shaq has always been lazy on defense and Kobe focused on offense more until recently.

Having said that Tim is not in form at the moment. If he hasn't played much ball over the summer he's just gotta work off some rust.
