In all fairness to Lambert, that first one where the girl elbowed her in the solar plexus, you don't have to hit someone hard in that region to knock the breath out them and put a pretty good nerve shot on them. Incredibly painful if you get hit just right even if you basically just get tapped there. Any type of bony protrusion like an elbow or a knuckle really does the job and that first girl gave her a pretty good shot with what was probably a pretty bony elbow. I can tell by the look on her face after the first girl elbowed her there that that elbow hit some paydirt. Anytime time you hit someone in the right spot there they will get that exact same look she had on her face at first, and if you hit them well but not quite well enough they get that second look she had on her face. You hit them well enough in that spot and they will think they are going to die.

So I'm gonna say BYU started the physical girl on girl violence with that elbow shot.

Even if you consider that reason enough, that is one hell of a retaliation job. I mean, she didn't even bother trying to hide it.

I like her. :lol

I don't see how you can't like her with how hard she was playing.

Hopefully they'll put her on the National Team for her toughness.

In every case, except for the trip it looked to me like BYU was starting it with a cheap shot or tactic and those journalists were just ignoring it because she was tougher than those other girls were.

That first play that girl took a shot on her first, Lambert wasn't doing anything to her, and the shot that other girl did is a lot more painful of a shot than what Lambert gave back.

In that play where she pulls the girls hair that other girl is grabbing her first. Plus she had just pushed her pretty hard on the previous play.

In the play where they punch each other that other girl throws the first punch and then Lambert laid a beatdown on her ass for it. :lmao

The only thing she is guilty of is not disguising her shots as well as the BYU girls.

I mean she's basically getting piled on for not being deceptive, when she clearly has a message that she has a zero tolerance policy on cheap play. If you are going to cheap shot her or play dirty bs she is going to lay an asswhuppin on you and she's not going to go to a whole lot of effort to hide it.

What really annoys me is that those journalists insinuate that she was somehow responsible for the score, when she was playing probably harder than anyone in that game on either team.

When I first saw this on TV, I thought it was prolly the worst thing I'd ever seen in women's sports. But after seeing it two more times I agree with you, she got provoked and wasn't gonna take shit from the other team. And now she's criticized cuz she wasn't doing "acceptable" cheat shots and hiding like a scrub...she flexed on all those girls and no one stepped up.

Remind me never to play sports with you.

The university gave her an indefinite ban from all soccer related activities. So you're wrong. This was unacceptable and way over the line. Rough play does not justify cheap shots and sucker punches.

DisgruntledLionFan#54,927

She needed to be more deceptive. A teammate in HS used to take out players on a regular basis after being provoked. He broke/severely sprained several opponent's ankles during our senior year and he'd always call his shot before taking them out.

He was very good at making it look like a legitimate play on the ball, something this chica needs to learn.

What are you some kind of bully?

If you notice, it was the same two girls(including the girl who kicked the winning goal) that were both cheapshotting Lambert.

That blonde girl that elbows Lambert in the chest at the beginning is also the girl that punches her in the face later on in the game. She did both to Lambert, first.

The brunette who gets tripped, in addition to being the girl who scored the goal at the beginning of the game, pushes Lambert, then holds her, before Lambert yanks her ponytail.

A cheap shot is a shot you do not know is coming...it is not the retaliatory shot. If you take a shot one someone, you should expect something to be coming in return, and when it does, it is not a cheap shotespecially if the initiating shot was itself a cheapshot.

The fact that you think Lambert was supposed to take a cheap shot double teaming, from not 1, but 2 girls, for an entire game and consider her the cheap shot artist means your perceptions are totally skewed.

Lambert had 2 girls cheap shotting her, first, when she was not expecting it, she took them both on and kicked both their asses when they knew it was coming. She is the awesome one and it's the other two cunts, who incidentally flopped like motherfuckers and faked injury to gain sympathy in ways on girls can, that are the dirty cheapshotters.

And on that trip, at the beginning of the game the ball is kicked over Lambert's head and the brunette chick, who incidentally is also the girl who shoved and held Lambert, scored a goal on it, that same chick was breaking for the goal and Lambert IMO, obviously said fuck you bitch, aint no fucking way you are scoring another goal after all the cheapshotting you and your team have done.

Lambert is good, fair and tough.
Those other two girls are the cheapshotting dirty players.

And don't let Fowdy's analysis fool you, she is paid to the say the approprite things...look at the smile on her face, she loves Lambert and the way she plays.

See Lambert isn't the stupid one there...the NCAA is.

They gave an indefinite ban to the only person who has ever been able to get a sportcenter highlight for Women's college soccer on ESPN.

In fact near as I can tell, she is the only interesting thing in the history of women's college soccer to the average sports fan, and they just killed it...

Back to obscurity and being bankrolled by football for the entire sport. Nice move NCAA....

This may be the most brilliant move since they gave SMU's football team the death penalty.....that was a real genius move there.

Your idea of sportsmanship seems to be that it's ok for not 1, but 2 people to cheap shot an unsuspecting player and when the unsuspecting player retaliates against the suspecting players, she is the cheap shot artist and agressor for kicking thier ass and not disguising her retaliation well enough.

What makes it even funnier is that you are the most defensive poster on this forum over imagined slights to your country and seldom let a comment pass, as you expected Lambert to let those cheapshots pass, without some kind of retaliation...I see absoutely no evidence that you practice what you preach on this board, let alone in real life confrontations.

You've also alluded to physical confrontations with me when I have fucked with you about your country. Which also indicates a tendency on your part to...not let it pass.

Yeah, because Zidane didn't get any punishment for his actions. :rolleyes

Spikes up is now an AUTO-red card, whether you connect with the other player or not. If the ref sees it, you're gone, regardless of where you are on the pitch.

The fact that we've seen worse somehow makes this chick's actions justifiable? I think not.

And lol at Whottt's attitude. "I'm right, EVERYONE ELSE IS WRONG LA LA LA".

Love the toughness, but Lambert should've shown more patience and guile. In this game there's lots of ways to get someone back. The flow of play will bring the chances to you.

You can murder the other guy on a fifty-fifty ball, or shoulder charge him when he isn't looking. There's lots of ways to do it that will seldom even draw a foul. Whereas straight up violent conduct seldom goes unpunished.

I disagree, pretty much all sports have their enforcer headhunter types and that is clearly what the lovely Miss Lambert is.

Not only would I say she is not a negative to her team, I would say she is a positive for the entire sport for the simple reason that she got people interested, in her, and in her team.

I myself was fully prepared to adopt the New Mexico women's soccer team(since I had no women's college soccer team other than the automatic UT/Texas State affiliation) for the rest of her career just to see how it played out...and now?

Back to yawning.

I sincerely hope Miss Lambert has not played her last collegiate game, that the fans of her team(which will probably be mostly women) are going to rally around her and raise hell with the NCAA to get her reinstated, say a threatened boycott of their own team...and I hope she is rewarded for actually being interesting with a spot on the National Team where we can then watch her beat the shit out of everyone on the International stage and make us proud in the way that only an ugly American can.

Boring is never good in sports you see and anything that isn't boring(such as this hot woman who beats the shit out of players who cheap shot her) is good. Boring is never good. Not being boring is always good....at least when the purpose is entertainment.

She already ranks as like...the 10th most famous soccer player(men and women combined) in American history and probably has the #1 spot as far as being interesting goes.

The worst thing we could do is attempt to get this woman to be something other than what she already is. She doesn't need to change, everyone expecting her needs to...she's right, they're wrong.

This may come as a surprise to you, but you are on ignore and have been for years. The reason you are on ignore is frankly because as a general rule there is literally nothing you have to say that I am interested in reading and a big part of the reason is because you rely almost exclusively on strawmen and think technicalities invalidate greater arguments.

I assure you I know the difference between a University and an NCAA suspension, it's not that great of a feat...what I did not know, because you are on ignore, because I think you completly suck as a poster and generally am uninterested in engaging you in any sort of dialogue, and your above post totally illustrates why btw....and because I simply did not care to look it up for myself because I don't think it's that important and extremely unlikely to be permanent, is that in this case it was her own team that suspended her. You see my response was to Manny, not yourself and it was not specified in his statement.

In light of this new information I will revise my statements to accurately reflect the change wrought by it:

1. I apologize to the NCAA for saying they were approximating the stupidity of giving the SMU football team the death penalty. Whew, that was a close one.

2. Fucking awesome, there's absolutely no way that suspension last longs if it was a U mandated one. That whole boycott their own team thing will really have an impact now.

There we go...all updated now. Thanks for your meaningful contribution to this thread.

I was at a gym when this was on ESPN and I just hear half the place go "Woah!". I look up and watch the remainder of the highlights and say "woah" myself when it shows the NM girl throw those punches as the other girl is falling.

I was in a similar situation and it was almost a funny hearing everyone go "whoa!" as it was watching the highlights.

Only comparable recent "whoa!" reaction I can think of was that white dude flipping himself during a dunk last season.

I disagree, pretty much all sports have their enforcer headhunter types and that is clearly what the lovely Miss Lambert is. No question. You're talking to one. But there's a businesslike way to do it. Soccer isn't MMA. Nor should it be. It's dangerous enough already.

She already ranks as like...the 10th most famous soccer player(men and women combined) in American history and probably has the #1 spot as far as being interesting goes.:rollin

I like the way you project your ignorance so boldly. It makes you look tough and stupid at the same time.

This may come as a surprise to you, but you are on ignore and have been for years. .

Putting people on ignore may be the most childish act anyone can commit online.

Geez. If y'all think this is bad (which it is) you should watch girls rugby. I saw one girl break her cheek bone, one get a concussion, one get hit in her eye so bad she couldn't see out of it and another break her toe...all in three games of rugby yesterday in Houston. Soccer is nothing.

That's not such a big deal Manumaniac, you're just overreacting because it's a girl who's doing all the dirty tricks, but we've seen much worse in many men's football games. It wasn't THAT bad.
