I want to follow the Uleb Cup championship...it just started a few minutes ago.

You found the "live stats" link at the ULEB site, right?

Javtokas' team up by 9. Looks like Big J has 9 points, one rebound and a block.

Nice.

I think he already has two fouls though and is on the bench.

Commentary:

Jaques Stas: With more than 15-point lead so late in half, it's strange that Javtokas is on the court. But do you see how he jumps and shoots, He is something.

Up 20 at the half. Jav has 11 points, three rebounds and a block in 12 minutes.

Our boy is on track tooooooooo be the MVP o this game....

And I still think this guy looked like NBA talent in the Olympics...

whottt

Lith up 44-26 Tokas still the leading scorer...

The loss of Shane Heal haunts Makedonikiousliosuslious

What makes it more impressive is that the guy guarding Javtokas is "one of the best defensive C in Europe" it looks like our guy is a big game player.

Javtokas just took a heat check. He missed on a three-pointer. :spin

He's actually hit a 3 this season.

How did this other team make the Finals? The only player I ever heard of is Pete Mickeal and he was like the third best player on his college team.

Cupcake?

The winner that is Shane Heal rubbed off on them...carried them.

Uh oh Makedonikus is mounting a comeback...only down by 14 points now.

whottt
04-19-2005, 02:48 PM
I am really starting to think Tokas is Spurs material all the way...build 20 point lead in a big game and then hang on for dear life for the 4th quarter.

04-19-2005, 02:49 PM

Doesn't that make him kind of a traitor to Slovenians? Don't you guys have some kind of rivalry with Lithuanians?

Lead is down to 12 now but Javtokas just scored.

Who is Manolis Papamkarious?

He is the guy leading Makedonikious to the comeback...draining some big 3's...

Why would we be some kind of rivals? They are more than 1500 miles away?
And coach Tomo Mahoric is one of the best Slovenian coach and he deserves to coach good team and in Slovenia we have only one or two good team(s), so I think it is better for him that he do his job alsewhere.

whottt
04-19-2005, 02:55 PM
Could be...

I have to give the Euros props though...this is a Jr league game 2000 miles away yet their java scoreboard updates faster and more accurately than NBA games do on ESPN.

The Lakers are like 2000 miles away from the Spurs...doesn't keep us from being rivals.

And didn't you guys used to have rival forms of communism?

It seems like there would be natural rivalry there...

Whottt our bigest rivals are our neighbours Croatians and maybe Italians, but shurely (spelling?) not Lithuanians.

For those interested, Tomo Mahoric was in San Antonio sometime last year when he wasn't coaching and was learning from the Spur's coaches. If i'm not mistaken, i think Grande David actually knows him from the time he was there.

I was just about to ask you who your rivals are...

I don't see why the distance is such a big deal though...

Like Texas is far away from California and New York yet we trash talk each other...they think we are all a bunch of sunglass wearing cowboys that talk like John Wayne and that do nothing more than smoke marlboros and sit around in the desert admiring catcuses.

Admit it...you thought that about us too didn't you ;)

And make no mistake about it...Argentina may be on the oppsite end of the world from us but we've had just about enough their crap in international basketball...it's on now baby.

I think it is becouse when we beat Croatians we can read(and understand) their newspapers and we can enjoy our victory against them even more when they cry and bitch. It is just opposite with other nations, I don't understand shit about Lithuanian language and I don't travel there, so I can't make jokes on (of, with...?) them, wich is the sweetest think to do! :devil

whottt
04-19-2005, 03:19 PM
So from looking at the boxscores who do you guys think will win the MVP of this game?

You guys are more familiar with this league than we are...

Was Javtokas the key to the win?(it looks like Nesby had a good game too but Javtokas powered them to the big lead)..

Can you tell who had the most impact from the boxscore?

I notice Javtokas rank isn't as high as Nesby's or another guys...but he was still the dominat player of the first half...how much of a role with that ranking play in deciding the MVP?

Is this a pretty signifigant accomplishment for the Lithuanians and Javtokas?

Yeah I guess the language barrier would be a problem to having a good rivalry, I didn't think about that...the distance + the language barrier makes it difficult I guess.
