That's why it burns me up to lose to dallas. Whenever we lose to l.a., at least they usually go on to the Finals. The mavs, on the other hand, usually make their less-than-graceful exit in the very next round.

It's definitely got to be the lakers. It's a longevity thing. You can trace laker hate back 30 years. It's only been over about the last 5 or 6 years that there's even been a reason to hate the mavs because before then they had pretty much sucked for their entire existence. The mavs were decent-good in the mid 80s, but that was during the stretch when the Spurs were down so it's not like there was anything on the line when the Spurs and mavs got together. Hell, back then the Spurs were barely just good enough to make the playoffs, and when they got there it was the lakers who would take them out in the 1st round.
