New team to clinch bowl eligibility today...

The SMU Mustangs. Lost in the shadows of TCU causing a buzz in Fort Worth, our own little team is buzzing itself over in Dallas. SMU won today to get to six wins. We haven't been to a bowl since 1984. It is truly a great day to be a Mustang. I got to charge the field after the game. :D And with Houston losing today, SMU is now in first place for the time being. Win out and SMU would host the CUSA championship game.

I might be the only person on this forum that gives a shit about this, but I don't care. :lol It is a terrific achievement for a team that combined to win just two games the last two seasons. June Jones really is a miracle worker. GO PONIES!!!!!!!

PS- why can't there be a freakin SMU skin on here?!?! ugh

Just thought I'd bump this since SMU got its 7th win of the season today. So it is now officially official that we are bowl bound. Sucks that it will likely be the Hawaii Bowl on Xmas Eve. Any other time and place and I'd go for sure.

That ain't no lie. I like stories like SMU. This might be the pinnacle for them anymore, maybe an extra game or so, but if they can be an every year team like Houston or So Miss or Tulsa that can go 9-3/8-4-ish annually and sneak into the rankings now and then, be wondeful.

yeah I PM'd timvp but I guess he's busy. While it would be nice to wear an SMU skin as tomorrow they should officially announce them going to the Hawaii Bowl, it's not that big a deal.

Looks like SMU will accept a Hawaii Bowl invitation tomorrow, as expected. I also got a message on facebook that SMU and June Jones have a "very important" announcement that will take place at 1pm in the Hughes-Trigg student center. Everyone is welcome to attend, so I will definitely be there. Time to make this official!!

That's awesome! I got early acceptance to SMU and thought long and hard about going there but I got more money elsewhere yet I still like to know they're doing well. However law school awaits in the future and SMU is a possible destination I hope :)

Well I hope you choose SMU when the time comes! I had a fun four years there. :)

I have a bunch of friends from high school that are currently in law school at SMU and will be finishing in May. I took a year of law school at U. of Chicago before I realized it just wasn't for me and went into sports writing like I knew I was gonna do anyway.
