Gotta say, its funny how getting a pet changes alot of your stances on animals, and how you feel about stuff.

Very very weird.

Damn..I've always wanted a Great Dane. They are huge. But I know you have to have alot of room for them to stretch their legs. I doubt my house could accomodate that dog.

If you can get out and run them, danes have actually been known to do well in apartments. They're goofy, but very sweet, and if they feel secure, they have no problem hanging out in the house as long as they get their exercise. They do love to run, though, so if you have limited space and limited time, I wouldn't recommend one.

I've owned three of them over the years and they're the best. The biggest lap dog you'll ever own!!

Personally my favorite breed.

Pets are amazing. I love cats. Always make sure to cherish every moment you have with all of your pets. I recently suffered the loss of one of cats, who lived a very long and fruitful life. It's tough, but just always remember to appreciate the time that you have with them. Pets are simply awesome.

Shelly
04-21-2005, 09:57 AM
We don't know what she is. Maybe part westi? Her ears don't stick up, though. Definitely some type of terrier. She was a stray that found us 2 years ago (I think someone dumped her...no collar, full of fleas, but not starving).

Their loss!

I fucking hate people that dump pets so much. The cat whose litter we are raising right now was definetly someone's pet and she got dumped somehow. She's way too comfortable around people for her NOT to be.

Shelly
04-21-2005, 10:08 AM
So do I. One reason we kept her is because of her demeaner. My youngest son was deathly afraid of dogs and now those two are best buds.

I don't think she was abused. She's missing her 4 top front teeth, but the vet thinks it could have been genetic. Because of that, sometimes she looks like she's smiling which is hilarious. You also can take food or a bone away from her and she couldn't care less. She's not protective of her food or toys at all. However, if you ring my doorbell or knock on the front door (especially if you work for UPS or FedEx), she will sound like the most vicious dog out there. She goes nuts and I have the shredded curtains to prove it. But all she wants to do is say hi and sniff your crotch and go on her merry way.

Unfortunately my Mom lives In a house sorrounded by lots of trees, so Possums tend to chill out In them. My Mom hates Possums. We finally got a beautiful German Sheppard Mix and no Possums around... :elephant

I got Sadie from the pound about a year ago. The animal control guy that picked her up was actually there when I was doing her paperwork and told me that they found her tied to a fencepost near I-20.

Me hates them fuckers too.

This is Blondie...I've had her for over two years. She's the one that had puppies last year. I actually found her one day. It was in February and my friends went out to a movie, we were coming back home and dropping off my friend. Well I got a ticket for speeding, then I came back home and I found her in front of my house. I just left her outside but then I was like hmm maybe I should just let her in. So i opened the fence let her in and gave her some food, she's been here ever since then.

http://home.ripway.com/2003-11/37679/Blondie.jpg

I'm really not sure what kinda dog she is, anybody that knows dogs think they can tell? I think she's a golden retreiver/pointer dog because she does that pointing thing with her one leg up.

This other dog is the one I got a little over a month ago. Her name is Lyla. I was driving with a friend from Dennys and I saw some guy giving puppies away. The one had was a boy and was her brother, so I asked if he had any more and he said yeah he had a girl and the rest boys. So I went to his house and I took the girl (Lyla) and the boy. I gave the boy to my uncle and he has him now, he named him Taboo.

Anywho Lyla is a Labrador/Rottweiller/Doberman mix...her mom was Rottweiller/Doberman and I think the dad was Labrador...because they took the other boy dog to the vet and they said he was Labrador mixed with something else.

This picture is about a month old, and now she is huge, she's bigger than my other dog Blondie, and Lyla is only about 4-5 months old.

Well, we were gonna name her Floyd because we thought she was a boy at first. She's gotta keep up with the male dogs and does lift her leg a lot when she pees. Since she has a lot of hair and was full of fleas when she found us, the kids and I never really looked (I assumed that she was fixed). My husband informed us that we were wrong and started calling her Blondie while we were waiting to see if anyone claimed her. No one bothered to come up with something else, so Blondie it is.

Crazy, because I thought my dog was aboy too when I first got her, I named her Fender. But I found out she was a girl so I renamed her Blondie.
