You guys might not know this, but I consider myself a bit of a loner. I tend to think of myself as a one-man wolf pack. But when my sister brought Doug home, I knew he was one of my own. And my wolf pack... it grew by one. So there... there were two of us in the wolf pack... I was alone first in the pack, and then Doug joined in later. And six months ago, when Doug introduced me to you guys, I thought, "Wait a second, could it be?" And now I know for sure, I just added two more guys to my wolf pack. Four of us wolves, running around the desert together, in Las Vegas, looking for strippers and cocaine. So tonight, I make a toast!

I would say Star Trek is the best film of the year. It deserves a Best Picture nomination in my opinion.

The Road hasnt even come out yet you clown.

I am going with Moon or District 9.

:tu:tu:tu:tu

The Hangover runs away with best comedy

Inglorious Basterds is pretty goofy IMO. I think I'm the only person in America who thought Brad Pitt's character was fucking retarded and not funny the least bit.

Haven't seen Moon yet. Looks really interesting. This girl at my work said I look like Sam Rockwell, too bad she refered to him from his character in The Green Mile. :lol

Star Trek was great. I've seen it or parts of it probably 15 times. Eminently enjoyable.

How could you possibly endorse it as being the Best Picture (in the way of The Academy)?

It was a cool summer blockbuster. America's really in trouble though if JJ Abrams Star Trek is at the apex of our cinematic arts.

FYI people, movies like the Dark Night and Star Trek are popcorn flicks, not deeply valuable pieces of film which deserve enshrinement by a voting academy.

Sam Rockwell is one of the most underappreciated actors of our time. Choke was fantastic.

I haven't gotten to see Moon or District 9 yet, so my vote is also for Star Trek.

I am 42 years old, I live with Mother…And I have an extensive DVD collection…I have seen cinema classics like "Selena" over 50x’s…I think “Where the wild things are” & “Free Willy-4” are destined to become film classics…

I read about 1/4 of the book, the whole first chapter is about LT and the effect he had on the game. It was pretty solid, and I will read the rest../ But Sandra Bullock's character is barely in the rest from what I hear, but the movie is all about her?

Saw Moon this weekend. :tu :tu

I have a lot of catching up to do. May be relying on torrents, which I rarely use for movies. Still want to see Where the Wild Things Are, Antichrist, Hurt Locker, Inglorious Basterds, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Road, Up in the Air, Afghan Star and Invictus.

I don't feel like I can pick a 2009 favorite yet, having missed so many potentially good ones.

Many on your list to see are ones I still need to get around to, as well. Watched Fantastic Mr. Fox yesterday (I also seldom rely on torrents for movies but found a good screener on demonoid) and thoroughly enjoyed it.

On Moon, still can't believe it was shut out of the recent awards. The Golden Globes are far from prestigious, I know, and the best actor category was pretty strong, but I find it really hard to believe that Tobey Maguire's performance in Brothers could have been better than Sam Rockwell's in Moon.

You're not alone, ATrain...I think the mitigating brilliance of that film is the fact that most of us can identify at least once in our relationship-having lives with what happened to him. I know I can. I know it's heartbreaking, but man, without that potentiality, I don't know what life is worth. I mean, to be able to have your heartbroken and meet someone new or meet that one--it is SOOOO better than being alone lol.
