I got into a heated shouting match w/ a couple Mav fan friends after the game last night at the AAC, going as far as grabbing one friend by the neck and pushing him to the wall (not all "bad-ass" like, but moreso "TERRIBLY frustrated, my friend didn't expect that kinda overreaction" like)...

...so NEEDLESS to say, I'm in need of one of these threads. And since there's already a meltdown thread...

-Spurs started out 6-8 during the shortened season '99 championship run.

In the last ten years, the Spurs have won a championship in every season they lost to the Jazz at home.

Only 1 player on that '99 roster is still with us and he is much older and not nearly as dominant...grasping at straws now.

Didn't expect Fin to be the first one to post in this thread, much less 3 times...

...unless the first two were simply set-ups for the 3rd.

The schedule has sucked and the Spurs have challenged playoff teams so far.

The thread wasn't created simply to keep expanding on the original suggested "piece of perspective".

In response to your argument, our PG in '99 was a lot older and not nearly as dominant as the one we currently have (when healthy, of course), and many say this is his team now.

losing records don't bode well for anybody.... So I'm an odds guy...what are the odds that the spurs make the playoffs.. Finish the month under five hundred or the season? I say the odds the spurs make the playoffs is 7-3 against... I think its 2-1 in favor of a sub five hundred record for the month of november and I think that that at this point its even money for a sub five hundred record for the seaon..

:lol

Spurs making the playoffs is like 98%.

If we were in the '99 version of the West, I wouldn't be nearly as worried.

Fact check, Spurs lost to the Jazz one time in the past ten years at home. Today.

Posted this in the game thread but look at it this way, we're staying neck and neck against good teams with 2 of our best players missing... I'll take that for now... no reason to panic people.

I know, right? I apologized rather profusely afterward. It may read a bit more violent than it actually was, but still, inexcusable.

I believe timvp was making a joke, seeing as how they mentioned that (now) irritating stat about 50 times throughout the course of tha terribly disappointing game.

No problem, I suppose. After all, the point of this thread was to deny there was a problem altogether, so...thanks? :toast

My friends, maybe you should spend some time away from this forum to relax? Sometimes I love visiting here, but I've visited less and less forums, and it does give one a better perspective of our beloved spurs and sports (among other things).

Try it. For a lot less stress.

RJ sucks balls...figuratively/literally/etc.

Now with THAT outta tha way, I don't understand the people acting like this is such a season ender.

Those aren't pushovers LA is throwing out there. There're four current and former All Stars suited up for the purple and gold. Their bench may be a bit suspect, but they're not a bunch of scrubs either...'cept for Walton, 'course.

This team looks like shit, I'll grant you, but this game isn't a good indicator of "how far they may/may not have fallen".

The Spurs and Mavs a lot in common that people think.

Both roster are comprised with old, again veterans. Both have overpriced players. Both clubs will be in luxury tax hell. Both teams look apathetic and slow. Both are looking to make trades. Both have fooled themselves into thinking they've got another run in them.
