Nets falling farther toward futility club (http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/spurs/Nets_falling_farther_toward_futility_club.html)
The agony continues for the Nets, who went to 0-13 with a Saturday afternoon loss to the Knicks in their last home game before a brutal Western road trip that could bring them back to the Jersey swamps with the league’s all-time worst season-opening record.
Because of a rash of injuries, the Nets have played five of their 13 games with the league minimum eight players suited up. They have fielded nine different lineups in 13 games. Devin Harris, the team’s leading scorer, returned for Saturday’s game after missing 10 of the first 12 with a right groin strain.
Here are the numbers — most consecutive losses to start a season — the Nets will try to avoid when they depart to play the Nuggets, Trail Blazers, Kings and Lakers:
17 - Heat, Nov. 5 to Dec. 1, 1988
17 - Clippers, Feb. 5 to March 10, 1999
16 - Clippers, Nov. 4 to Dec. 5, 1994
15 - Nuggets, Oct. 29 to Nov. 25, 1949
15 - Cavaliers, Oct. 14 to Nov. 10, 1970
15 - 76ers, Oct. 10 to Nov. 10, 1972
