Honestly Culbert, are you really shocked that Kobe made a shot over the backboard?

Frankly I was shocked they counted it. I thought it was illegal. I recall Bird shooting something like that and it was not counted.

Sasha is done, for good. Now, I would like for PJ to start letting Odom backup Ron just a bit to give Josh more time on the floor, and that would also completely eliminate Walton.

Yeah, that would be cool. Josh definitely deserves more time and if that means less Walton, all the better.

Really? I've seen that shot hit at least twice and it always counted. Rolling at the top of the backboard and going in also counts. I think it's only a foul if it hits on the backside of the backboard.

It's uncomfortable watching Kobe struggle with his demons even in the midst of a slaughter like is taking place this evening. I thought, (and I bet he thought) that ringin'/sans Daddy would quell the rage. Unfortunately not. He's perpetually lit.

I wonder what a sans Colorado Kobe Bryant would be like now? I bet he wonders too.

According to announcer during the Celts/Rockets preseason game, "The ball cannot pass behind the basket." So either the rules changed or maybe the Kobe shot shouldn't have counted. Who knows.

Celtics Announcer is wrong.

Ball can pass the plane of the basket since the sidelines are still inbounds.

Ball cannot touch the back of the backboard or any supporting stanchions/shot clock.

Right but this was back in the 80's. Do you know what the rules stipulated back then? Obviously the baselines have always been inbounds but was there something in the rulebook about the ball passing behind the basket?

I'm not sure what you mean by the 80's? I dunno about back then, wasn't watching basketball back then.

I know currently, you can shoot from behind the backboard as long as it doesn't hit the back of the board. The top of the backboard is also inbounds, but the shot clock is not.

Celtics announcer should know since Rondo hit one of those about 2 weeks ago and it counted.

The rules were probably the same but I honestly have no idea.

On a side note this game is a prime example of why I don't like Bryant. 11 minutes left in the 4th quarter, Lakers up by 30 and still in the game. Not only is he still in the game, he is still complaining to the refs about fouls.

It's exciting not knowing what the season will bring. I can only imagine what it's like to be in a constant circle-jerk-jizz-in-my-pants-because-I'm-sure-my-team-will-win mind frame. Then to have it all come crashing down when my team loses. Good luck with every Laker fans. :toast

Anyone who doesnt drink the kool-aid must be a hater and uneducated right Laker fan? If you think PJ wants Kobe in the game in the 4th quarter when they are up by 30 you should go ahead and get yourself checked for down syndrome. Its well documented Kobe pads his stats and has to "get his" before he sits.

"Kobe cant win a ring without Shaq - shit, cant use that either"

Losin' that one really pissed 'em off. That was their ass in-the-hole. Gone! Poof!

It's similar to when the Lakers finally broke thru in Boston in the '85 Finals. Stockton & Heinsohn stood there looking like they'd seen a ghost, or, lost money, or, somebody had died. Very little commentary. Very little post game. Just flat earred & tight-lipped. They wanted to break it off for 60 Minutes "in it's entirety." tee, hee.
