I didn't know if we'd ever be able to match the video of David's 71 points. But I believe this is on par with it.

I didn't think he came across as bored. If anything I thought he was star struck. If you're a humble guy like Tim Duncan what do you say when Bill freaking Russell tells you he admires your game?

:lmao I have to agree. When me and my Granddad talk, Tim is me and Russell is my Granddad in that he takes like 2 minutes in between sentences and when I want to say something it's always followed by an old man's "huh?". :lol

It's going to be several parts, right now I have 1-4 completed. I'd imagine there are at least that many more.
Not in it's entirety.

I plan on putting up part 2 Wednesday. Then 3 will be next week.

What I like most about this interview is that both men are willing to acknowledge each others accomplishments while staying humble. Russell always carried himself with class both on and off the court and Tim is the same way. I wish more players today would appreciate the contributions of those that preceded them.

Thank you again; Spursdotcom. The videos are too appetising for just a chunk of it every day.
Its great to see, the all time great Bill Russell discussing fundamentals with Mr. Fundamental. Its nice to see Duncan being paid homage to by a great by recourse to Duncan's own character - understated but basic.

KG had an interview with Russell during the Celts championship season that got way more tv run than this one ever did/will. So I doubt there's any jealousy there.

I thought the KG interview was pretty corny..BR saying he'd lend one of his rings to KG if the Celts didn't win a championship.. I wonder how that would have worked out.. "hey guys, look at the Championship Ring BR lent me..." :lol and I didn't think KG merited being in the same video with the great BR. At least TD brings 4 rings to the table..

That was really wonderful. I wish there was more of it. :)
Wow, what a phenomenal conversation. They lose each other, or talk over each others points (mostly Russell haha), but a connection seems to have been made. It came about during talk of family, and childhood as much as it did through discussions about leading their teams, and chasing perfection on the court.
Like Tim Duncan said, "Some of the similarities are eerie," such as the loss of their mothers at young age, and having the kind of fathers that saw their children to college based on a promise to their lost wives. Russell and Duncan played on broken courts, and both still know exactly how to get back to their respective spots.
The two legends found a counterpoint in one another's stories and recognized it as both human, and as purely basketball.
