NOTABLE

No team has been as star-crossed as the injury-addled Warriors. On Nov. 20, they had to invoke a hardship exemption to sign Hunter, and will likely suit up the minimum eight players for the fifth straight game tonight. ... Even coach Don Nelson is on the inactive list. He did not join the team on this trip because of pneumonia. ... Spurs have won 22 straight over Warriors in San Antonio, a streak dating to Feb. 14, 1997.

The Warriors only used 6 players tonight, 3 of which played all 48. Two of those played 48 the night before (Morrow and Ellis). They're crazy thin and only dressing 8 players at the moment.

maggette will be suited for the game? i'm not so sure about that

i also think there's a good chance manu will be dressed for the game

the warriors just dont have the firepower to compete for this game, but this will be a test to see if we can stump their run n gun

Lets not crown em just yet.

Monta Ellis is decent. I have him on my fantasy team his line tonight vs. _allas was 37 pts, 4 rebins, 8 dimes, 4 stls.

On the other hand, he had 11 TOs!!!:depressed
It'll be fun to see Boogey Man and Hill shut him and Curry chicken down.:flag:

WARRIORS (5-8) at SPURS (6-6) (http://www.nba.com/warriors/gametime/preview_112509.html)

After winning the first game of their two-game Texas road trip, the Warriors will look to chalk up another victory when they face the Spurs in San Antonio on Wednesday night. The contest will tip off at 5:30 p.m. and fans can check out the action live on CSN Bay Area and KNBR 1050.

The Warriors head into Wednesday's game as winners of their last two contests, including Tuesday night's 111-103 victory over the Mavericks in Dallas. With Keith Smart coaching in place of Don Nelson (pneumonia), the Warriors suited up only eight players and used only six. But being severely shorthanded didn't seem to have any negative affects on the team, as Golden State turned it on in the fourth quarter and wound finishing the game on a 24-7 run.

As they did on Tuesday, the Warriors will rely heavily on Monta Ellis when they face the Spurs on Wednesday. The Golden State guard has upped his game recently and played all 48 minutes in each of the team's past two games. And during those victories, Ellis has averaged 35.5 points, 8.0 assists and 5.5 steals. He has turned up his game on both ends of the floor, and it has influenced the rest of the team. Anthony Morrow also played all 48 minutes over the last two games, and he has responded by averaging 25.0 points and 7.5 rebounds while going 17-29 from the floor.

Golden State will need Ellis, Morrow and the rest of the team's healthy players to be ready for the grind of a back-to-back on Wednesday, especially since it comes against San Antonio. The Spurs have also been bitten by injuries this season and have come out of the gates struggling a bit, but they can certainly never be overlooked. The Warriors will need to find a way to contain Tim Duncan and Tony Parker if they want to come back to Oakland with a 2-0 mark on this Texas trip.

EXTRA NOTES:
Warriors Head Coach Don Nelson missed Sunday's practice and has been diagnosed with pneumonia. He will not accompany the team on its road trip to Dallas and San Antonio ... Tim Duncan’s steady contribution over the last two weeks hasn’t restored the San Antonio Spurs’ reputation as one of the elite teams in the Western Conference.

Duncan’s impact in San Antonio’s home games against the Golden State Warriors, however, cannot be denied.

The Spurs look to push their home winning streak over the Warriors to 23 games when they close a four-game homestand Wednesday night.

San Antonio has gotten off to a slow start this season, evening its record at 6-6 with a 112-98 win over Milwaukee on Monday. But the Spurs appear to have a good chance to build some momentum with a season-high third straight victory when they host a team they haven’t lost to at home since February 1997.

Since drafting Tim Duncan with the No. 1 overall pick in 1997, San Antonio has yet to lose to the Warriors at home, winning 22 in a row. Duncan has been on the floor for 21 of those victories, averaging 19.8 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots.

Big games from Duncan haven’t translated to San Antonio wins so far this season. The Spurs were 0-4 when Duncan scores at least 20 before he had 24 points and 12 rebounds in Monday’s victory.

Duncan, who is averaging 21.0 points in his last five games after averaging 14.6 in his first five, got some help against the Bucks. Matt Bonner scored 23 points off the bench and six players finished in double figures as San Antonio improved to 5-0 when reaching 100 points.

“That’s what we need when the energy isn’t there or someone isn’t playing well, for other people to step up,” Duncan said.

The win gave the Spurs back-to-back victories following a three-game losing streak while improving them to 6-2 at home. Including Wednesday’s game, they play four of the next five at home.

San Antonio will next try to take advantage of a short-handed Warriors team, which despite struggling to put together a healthy lineup, will be going for a third straight victory Wednesday.

Golden State (5-8) is coming off a 111-103 win at Dallas on Tuesday. Monta Ellis scored a season-high 37 points and Anthony Morrow added 27. The Warriors went on a 14-2 run after falling behind 98-89, led by seven straight points from rookie Stephen Curry, who finished with 18.

After using eight players in a 108-94 win over Portland on Friday, the injury-riddled Warriors played only six players Tuesday, with Anthony Randolph scoring nine points in 30 minutes off the bench. They were without Andris Biedrins (strained groin), Raja Bell (left wrist), Kelenna Azubuike (left knee tendon), C.J. Watson (flu), Ronny Turiaf (sprained left knee) and Corey Maggette (left hamstring).

The Warriors snapped the Mavericks’ five-game winning streak.

“Coming into this game, we had nothing to lose,” said assistant coach Keith Smart, who filled in for Don Nelson, who’s not traveling with the team while recovering from pneumonia. “The worst case is they blow us out and we move on to (Wednesday night’s game in San Antonio). But our guys have a lot of character. They played hard together and made the right decisions.”

Ellis has been a big factor in Golden State’s last two wins. He was 15 for 29 from the field Tuesday after finishing with 34 points in the victory over Portland. He’s averaging only 14.0 points in his career against the Spurs - his lowest average against any team in the West.

Golden State Warriors (5-8) At San Antonio Spurs (6-6) (http://www.kirotv.com/sports/21721612/detail.html)

The San Antonio Spurs aim to close out a four-game homestand in winning fashion Wednesday by continuing their dominance over the Golden State Warriors in the Alamo City.

The Spurs have topped the Warriors 22 straight times in San Antonio and haven't lost to Golden State at home since drafting star power forward Tim Duncan with the No. 1 overall pick in 1997.

Most recently the Spurs improved to 2-1 on their residency Monday when Duncan registered 24 points and 12 rebounds as San Antonio surged to a 112-98 win over Milwaukee.

Matt Bonner went 6-of-8 from beyond the arc, on the way to a 23-point night for the Spurs, who have won two straight following a three-game skid.

George Hill had 14 points off the bench, while Richard Jefferson and Roger Mason each scored 11 in the victory. Keith Bogans scored 10 for the Spurs, who are 6-2 at the AT&T Center and winless (0-4) on the road..

"Tonight was one of those nights where everything was falling," Bonner said after beating Milwaukee. "My teammates did a great job finding me and I was open, stepped in and made some shots."

The short-handed Warriors, meanwhile, kicked off a two-day tour of Texas in positive fashion last night when Monta Ellis poured in a season-high 37 points and dished out eight assists, as Golden State used a late surge to take down the Dallas Mavericks, 111-103, at American Airlines Center despite using just six players.

Anthony Morrow made a career-high six three-pointers en route to a season- best 27 points for the Warriors, who have won two in a row. Morrow also grabbed a season-high nine rebounds. Stephen Curry scored 11 of his 18 points in the final four minutes of the contest. Vladimir Radmanovic tallied 14 points and a season-best 12 rebounds for Golden State, which shot 10-of-21 from beyond the arc.

The Warriors were also without head coach Don Nelson, who did not travel with the team due to being diagnosed with pneumonia. Assistant coach Keith Smart coached the club on Tuesday and he will do the same tonight in San Antonio.

"I said from the beginning this win went out to our man in charge, coach Nelson. Our guys pulled together for him. He instilled a lot of the qualities in all of us. Coming into this game we had nothing to lose. We were loose, we could play the way we needed to play," said Smart. "The worst case they blow us out and we move on to San Antonio. But our guys have a lot of character, they played hard together."

Wow, the warriors look like shit with all the injuries and being on a back-to-back. This is perfect for the spurs right now, especially coming off two easy games. Should be a simple win.

IMO ball inside to TD is the best way to win today.Warriors can't stop him.

But if the game is a JS contest then Warriors could have chance to win.The Mavs don't have inside scorer and they lost the game
