View Full Version : If you're an NBA player, how would you spend yo money?

ChrisRichards

Lets say you got a decent $3 million dollar deal for two years, guaranteed. How would you use it and for what? Im curious because a lot of NBA players are criticized for blowing a large sum of money in such a short amount of time.

Being realistic, how would you invest or spend your money? And what's the first thing you'll buy?

1000 high-class hookers for one night. Then I'd sell the video and use the returns to pay for the sequel.

90 percent I'd spend on Vegas, loose women, high-class booze and the fattest kind buds I could find. The other 10 percent I'd waste.

I'd go about it in about this order:

I'd drop 500k and buy a house with cash.
I'd drop 100k and buy a couple cars with cash.
I'd blow 400k on bullshit as I saw fit.
I'd keep 300k for my living expenses that year.
I'd invest 1.7M and hold it for long-term purposes.

The second season I'd already have my car and house. So I'd streamline it.
300k for living expenses.
300k for bullshit.
2.4M for long-term investing.

I'm boring.

I've always wanted to open a movie theater that had lazy boy chairs instead of those uncomfortable seats they put it.

Imax Screens in every theater, but charge the normal price.

Would not fit as many people, but I guarantee would be filled up every weekend.

Yea, probably a couple of 50k cars. If I had a longer contract or more per year I'd probably splurge more! :king

Pay off student loans. (Only debt I have).

Spread out the money over various savings accounts, IRA's.

Become a venture capitalist, specializing in tech gadgets, but willing to fund anything with a good business plan that I can 'dig'.

10% to disease research for something that doesn't affect me or any of my immediate family/acquantances (otherwise, it would be too self serving).

Set up an annuity to live off of.

Probably would own 1 house on Lake Michigan, and another small condo along the Pacific Coast.

You have obviously never been to Lake Michigan.

Most beautiful beaches on Earth. Fresh crystal clear blue water. Powder white sand for a hundred miles in each direction...

But only for 3 months out of the year (Late June, July, August, Early September). Hence the other condo on the Pacific West Coast...

Also, Lake Michigan borders 3 other states...

Where in MI have you been? Detroit isn't Michigan. Lakes Huron/St. Clare/Erie are bona fide nasty. But Lake Michigan (and Superior) are crystal clear blue water. And the beaches of Lake Michigan are all powder white, particularly in the Ludington area, but also Muskegon, Traverse City, and even in Indiana...

I'd probably live like Matt Bonner - get a decent house and car but nothing fancy, I'm talking around $200,000 combined. Put the rest of the cash in savings so you can set up a nice retirement plan.

son I would have figured that Rick Astley could be living a nicer life than that. God only knows how much money he has made with royalty checks from his hit single "Never gonna give you up".
