Women, in my experience, do not like being called any generic name. Any pet name you and her may have created is acceptable because its unique (I have one for my wife).

My take on it, any use of "pet" names made popular by rap music are automatically insulting to women, period. Shorty, hoe, bitch, slut...all unacceptable names when referencing a woman who isnt a paid prostitute.
