Offensive player of the year

Colt McCoy, Texas, QB: McCoy, who has more victories (44) as a starting quarterback than anyone in major college football history, passed for 3,328 yards and 27 touchdowns, ran for 368 yards and two TDs, and ranks sixth in the nation in total offense. By completing 71.8 of his passes, he leads the nation in completion percentage for the second year in a row.

Defensive player of the year

Ndamukong Suh, Nebraska, DT: Widely regarded as the most disruptive force in college football, Suh racked up 70 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 7 1/2 sacks, 24 hurries, 10 pass breakups and three blocked kicks. The likely top pick in the next NFL draft, Suh is Nebraska’s biggest weapon heading into Saturday’s showdown with UT.

Offensive newcomer of the year

Daniel Thomas, Kansas State, RB: Thomas, a junior transfer from Northwest Mississippi Community College, led the Big 12 in rushing with 105.4 yards per game and scored 11 touchdowns to help the Wildcats orchestrate the league's best turnaround this season.

Defensive newcomer of the year

Aldon Smith, Missouri, DE: Smith, a freshman, tied a school record with 11 sacks, which led all freshmen in the nation. He also collected 18 1/2 tackles for loss, enabling the Tigers to reach their fifth consecutive bowl game.

Coach of the year

Mack Brown, Texas: Brown has led the Longhorns to more victories (127) in his 12 years at UT than any team in the country during that span, and now he has the first back-to-back 12-victory seasons in school history. The Longhorns can play for Brown's second national championship if they beat Nebraska on Saturday in the Big 12 title game.

In a way I am glad Aaron Williams blatantly got scoffed out of a first (even second) team all conference big 12 spot. It will hurt his draft stock, and make him hungry when he comes back next year.

This guy was so crominant you never even saw his name on gameday for like six straight weeks because teams simply would not pass to his side of the field.

A player's place on the all-conference team would not remotely affect their draft stock.

NFL teams don't give a rats ass who makes all conference and who doesn't. If you can play, they'll find you. Especially when you play for a team that's on TV every week.

Charlie Johnson was never an All Conf but was picked in the 6th round and has been a starter since his SB winning year with the Colts.

Josh Huepel was player of the year and dadgum won the Heisman, Jason White DID win the heisman; Josh was drafted late but never made a team while White wasn't even drafted.

NFL scouts look for potential, not all conf selections.

I'm a little disappointed that Toston didn't make 1st team; he was the leading rusher in B12 play, he only finished behind the Kstate guy buy 100 yards, yet he didn't start until the All American in front of him got hurt and he also had 40 fewer carries; got same amount of TDs, too.

Dez left, Spud was hurt, Zac was nuring a torn hammy all year and got dinged up more against ttek, and Toston completely carried OSU. OSU would have lost to atm, ttek, Mizzou and CU if not for Toston.

I have seen a couple lists come out with 2 RBs, which I think is more than fair.

Zac Robinson should have got 2nd team all QB

his senior year was dissapointing.....but nowhere near the magnitude of Todd Reising's senior year failure...
I feel downright sad for him and KU

I sure hope OSU wins their fuckin bowl game, Robinson needs to go out in a flash of glory...bad enough we lost all that cred when Oregon waxed them last winter..

Charlie Johnson was never an All Conf but was picked in the 6th round and has been a starter since his SB winning year with the Colts.

He's only been a Week 1 starter since this year. The year after the SB, Tarik Glenn retired and the Colts tried the Tony Ugoh Experiment for two seasons before benching him. Prior to this season he was pretty much the guy who replaced anybody injured on the Colts line not named Jeff Saturday. I'd say you're doing a good job if the only guy they won't let you start in front of is a multiple Pro Bowler and lock for the HOF. I was one of his skeptics before this year. He seemed to be able to fill in for a little while and then be pretty useless but this year he's really stepped it up. Something in the water in Indiana, I guess.

I have to agree that not making the all-conference team shouldn't hurt your draft stock. The NFL is weird because you never know what situation you're going to be in. Say Bradford goes high in the first round to a team in rebuild mode, McCoy goes anywhere in rounds 1-4 to a team that's going thru a QB carousel and someone like Todd Reesing gets drafted in the 6th and ends up being the next Tom Brady.
