Just tinkering and offering a suggestion instead of just complaining like some do. But with a semi soft schedule for the rest of December I would try a new starting 5 to see how it may work.

Parker, Ginobili, Jefferson, Duncan and Blair. This utelizes the big 3 for better scoring options yet still gives the team a good defensive unit. (may also help get Jefferson more involved offensively since Ginobili is a good passer.)

First substitutions around the 8 to 10 minute mark: Hill for Ginobili and McDyess for Blair. To finish the 1st period Parker, Hill, Jefferson, McDyess and Duncan. Still a good defensive unit with variable offensive capabilities.

Second subs beginning the 2nd period: Mason at 2G and Hill moves to PG. Bonner in and Dyess moves to PF for Duncan. Bogans in and subs for Jefferson. Lineup: Hill, Mason, Bogans, McDyess and Bonner. Again perimeter defense still in tact. Suffers some in the post. But by this time the opponent will probably have it's starters off the court as well.

Around mid 2nd period...inject Jefferson for Bogans. Blair for McDyess. Parker for Hill. Lineup: Parker, Mason, Jefferson, Blair and Bonner. If this can hold until the end of the 2nd period great. If not. Situational time outs used to reinsert Duncan, Ginobili, Hill or Bogans.

Parker and Jefferson play roughly 18 minutes per half. Duncan plays 14 to 16 minutes per half. Blair plays approximately 14 to 16 minutes per half. And the rest of the team plays roughly 10 to 12 minutes per half.

This of course depending on matchups, foul situations and overall production by the individual.

I really like that starting unit but I am a firm believer that Hairston should get some playing time during this stretch. I think he should take some of Bogans minutes just to see what he can do!

I wonder if hairston, haislip and mahinimi really suck so bad that they can't beat out any of the old timers........damn

Hairston already beat a number of them out in preseason/training camp..technically he "earned" a spot, but I guess he hasn't gone through the grind of "making it" in the NBA..

Ian has more competition up front and he was inconsistent in preseason..he still should play IMO, but I think something is up..

Haislip does suck though, so I don't care about that..

Starting lineup should be

Tony
Manu
RJ
Duncan
Dyesss

Dyess should continue to start...

Manu is no longer that huge spark off the bench hes always known to be. He needs to start and try and utilize hill or even bogans off the bench to re-energize this team. blair/bonner is also giving good minutes off the bench. We no longer NEED manu to come off the bench therefore he should start.
