Chinese dictators don't want people seeing footage of Yao grimacing on the floor holding his feet. They probably just loop the 2005 season over and over again playing big games from Tmac and Yao. I bet the chinese think the Rockets play the Spurs 20 times a year.

Perfect timing on releasing these results...Lakers leaving the comfortable confines of Staples Center after Friday.

I think these early All Star voting results will be good for a couple of 20/12 games by Bynum on the road. :lol

There was a story about last year's voting on nba.com. A chinese journalist said after the 3rd or 4th return that those players from Houston were benefitting from Yao's popularity. He said something like "Is it fair? Probably not. But it's the way it is." :hat

It's definitely because they play on the same team as Yao so everyone in China votes for them. Looks at Ariza, Scola and Brooks vote totals, they're way higher then they should be. Ariza scoring 18 points a game on 17 shots and 39% shooting is not playing like an all star.

Thank you!

Hey fans,

I just wanted to extend a huge thank you to the best fans a player could ask for. When I saw the first results for All-Star voting this morning, I was blown away. I know it’s early on in the voting, and there’s a long way to go, but it was an awesome feeling when I heard. I’m honored and humbled that you all have shown me so much love and you continue to support me through everything. From the messages left here on T-Mac.com and on my Facebook page, to all the votes that you have cast for the All-Star game, it’s truly amazing how dedicated and supportive you all are, and I can’t thank you enough for your kind words and the encouragement you send me each day. It makes me that much more determined to be the best player I can be when I get back out there.

Speaking of getting back out there, I’m sure you are anxious for an update. We’re still taking it day by day, but the organization and I are optimistic that I’ll be back out there soon. We aren’t targeting a specific game, but my coach and the trainers and I are working to determine the best time to make my return. As a competitor I want to be out there so badly, but at the same time I trust coach and the staff to help me make the decision that’s in the best interest of my health and the team. It’s still early in the season and everyone has stepped up and the team is playing great, so there is no need to rush things. I’m feeling better and more comfortable every day in practice and I’m getting my fitness back, so it’s just a matter of time now.

Hopefully you’ll see me out there soon!

Anyways, thanks again to the best fans in the world!

Mac

Being an all star doesn't consist of only scoring, it's your all round game...He can play defense, and he wasn't signed for his scoring, but for his defense alone. He can be a facilitator, if you watch the games, you will see this.

Roundtable: T-Mac's All-Star votes cause a stir (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/basketball/nba/12/15/roundtable/index.html)
SI.com

Tracy McGrady, who has yet to play this season, is on pace to start the All-Star Game based on early returns in fan balloting. What's the best way to select starters for the All-Star Game?

Thomsen: Nothing should be changed. Let the fans stay involved by picking the starters, and let the coaches continue to make amends by filling out the benches. I highly doubt McGrady will finish in the starting lineup, as close as the balloting is at this early stage.

McCallum: Well, let's bring back the soapbox. Any system that has a guy who hasn't played in line for a starting spot is a joke of a system. Let the players and coaches pick the starters. I've been saying that for years. Does anyone really think there would be a huge outcry if Tracy McGrady is not at the All-Star Game, aside from those ignorant fans who still believe the T-Mac hype from six years ago? Let the fans pick the nominees for the sideshows, such as the dunk contest.

Mannix: People, it's an exhibition game. If the fans want to see Jack McCallum don his sweats and post up Steve Nash, I say, Jack, start working out. Every year, fans shell out tens of millions of dollars in tickets, concessions and exorbitant parking costs. For one game -- one meaningless exhibition game in mid-February -- they should be allowed to choose the players they want to see play. Check that, the 10 starters they want to see. Remember, the fans vote for less than half the combined roster. It makes no sense to take that away from them, regardless of who gets in.

Markazi: Let the fans vote, but forget paper ballots. Most vote online or via text anyway. What this will do, aside from saving paper, is enable the NBA to place players that have played in a minimum number of games on the ballot instead of choosing them in the pre-season for printing purposes. There's no reason a player like McGrady should be on the ballot, while a player like Chris Kaman is not, simply because the ballot was made before the season began. That mistake doesn't happen if the ballots are available online after the first month of the season.
