Carpenter? The guy who's had an ERA under 4 once in the last eight years? The guy who has pitched 200 innings in a season exactly once?

Average starter? Sure. Top of the rotation stud? Absolutely not.

You're right about Mulder, though. When he's healthy and at the top of his game, he can be awesome.

The guy who won 18 games last year,

and pitched a complete game shutout VS The Cubs the other day.

yeah that Chris Carpenter.

Carpenter last year, WAS a top of the rotation stud. Lose your hate.

This must be the third or fourth 1-0 extra innings loss for the Astros this season. And not the first time Clemens has left the game tied at 0-0 in the late innings.

Lance Berkman can't come back soon enough.

SPEAKING OF WICH.

You never admitted you were wrong about last year.

"Who will the cardinals send out to win a series"

The answer is Jeff freakin Suppan.

Mulder
Carpenter
Marquis
Suppan
Morris

Fantastic rotation.

Morris pitched 5 innings 2 runs NO WALKS 5 strike outs.

Limited to 80 pitches due to offseason surgery

in june hell be throwin a 100 and goin 7 8 innings.

The old Matt Morris is back... :fro

BTW, thanks Astros, 4-1 against on the season, Cardinals up 4.5 games already.

Runnin away with the division in april already.

Gee SI and all of you guys, the Cardinals might be as good slightly better?!???

Morris pitched 5 innings 2 runs when is a 3.6 era in the nl considered good? if thats the old matt morris you can have him

since when is a 3.60 era considered bad.
but he won't be the old matt morris until he is throwin 94-95 again

It's not. But having one year with that ERA and 15 wins out of several does not make you a front-line starter, even in today's MLB.

yeah ill take my 5th guy over Duckworth, or whoever the flavor of the month with the Astros is true.

He only gave up 1 earned run, so 5 innings 1 earned run, is pretty good.

Hell prob average out 7 innnings 2 runs a game when he gets his pitch count up, so, a big F U to the Matt Morris haters.

does not make you a front-line starter

Morris is the 5th guy in the rotation.

So, yeah, thats good.

BTW, he'll win 16 and have a 3.00 ERA this year.
