The man who wears pajamas and holds a machete

December 3, 2009, 9 am in the morning a man named Chen Yu wearing pajamas, holding a machete stood in the middle of the Changsha Bailian Oriental Plaza, attracted hundreds of spectators. Many policemen arrived to the scene, as well as the SWAT team. There was even an armored vehicle. Around 10:50 or so, the SWAT team holding shields moved in close to Chen Yu and finally successfully brought him under control.

The SWAT team handed over Chen Yu along with the machete to the local police station. After investigation Chen Yu is 25 years old and from Yiyang Taojiang. Chen Yu’s father and girlfriend arrived at the scene and told the police that Chen Yu had a history of mental illness. Due to his illness, night before he suspected that his father was killed, then he ran out of the house with the machete in the morning. After Chen Yu saw his father, his emotion was back to normal.

Who's the second guy in the PJs in one of the pics??? WTF? :lol



The Chinese police obviously handled that pretty well. In my town the local cops would have just shot and killed this guy. We have documented cases of our local PD shooting and killing guys holding a butter knife, crucifix, ashtray, and their defense is that they thought they were endangered, mistaking the items for weapons. This dude is holding a machete.
