I mean don't get me wrong I agree with you, but if you want to generate a discussion you gotta come stronger than that man.

Hit me with some substance. Why not actually start a convo about Obama's cynical public option ploy since you seem to care about it so much. Personally I'm pretty ticked off, it's pretty clear to me that Obama and the Democratic leadership never wanted a public option to begin with, it was all just bull shit to win votes.

If your point is that there is no difference between Dems and Repugs, there are lots of threads on those issues. If your point is that both parties are controlled by corporations, there are quite a few threads on that issue as well.

I guess my point to you is that you didn't develop a position for people to respond to. Your point appears vague enough that folks can interpret it to mean things that are already covered.

There is a really strong statement to be made about the parties not being very different in who sets their agendas (and, for example, Nono is a very strong advocate for the position that corps have waaay too much input).

Nonetheless, there is a really strong statement to be made that the parties are very, very different in how they set their legislative agendas, and almost every thread in this forum explores some aspect of that.

Those of us who are more centrist, or independents, tend to say 'a pox on both their houses', but each party has their own set of apologists well represented within the forum.

I think you need to be a little more specific, or take a position that people can relate to.

Good luck

Follow-up to my prior comments:

For example, take a look at Marcus Bryant's current thread on the History of America. It has a similar premise to yours, but with lots of meat for folks to chew on.

Democrats didn't want the Public_option because they really wanted single-payer...Reid needs to go for not calling out traitor Liebermann on the floor..

No comparison...health-care reform wouldn't have made it out of closure if the GOP had control of Congress..

Reid needs to go. period. He is one of the most useless, ineffective 'leaders' I have ever seen. I keep wondering how he got to the position he holds. He is terrible!!!

...you gotta be careful when you go around throwing generalizations like that, contrary to popular belief it only takes all 40 crooked GOP Senators, completely in the pocket of insurance lobbyist, and 3-4 Compromised Democratic Senators for reform to be killed, which is exactly the case that happened here...otherwise,.... we'd have a single-payer system, .......you know,................ real reform...

THE TRUTH HURTS DON'T IT.

Hurts? Hell, I have been making the same argument for 15 or 20 years now. The truth is, the good ol' boys (and girls) inside the beltway have gotten so used to having it "their way", things ain't about to change anytime soon. The only thing that changes is the names. The game and the agenda remain the same.

We will have this same crap until we either get a viable third party, or the people of this country finally get fed up and march on Washington to kick some political ass.

But right now it matters not whether it is controlled by Rep or Dem. It's just the same ol' shit, different day.

Hey, I've advocated for the regulation of corporate money in elections for years, it works in Europe....

....at this point you just gotta ask yourself which poliiticians are doing the people's work and which are doing their lobbyist work, Democrat or Republican, because your not gonna get rid of the two party system..

Thank god lobbyists are all aligned with one party, it makes it so easy to figure out which one is which.

Only one party gets the communist

Communism = greater public spending on health care.

Free enterprise or rock-ribbed individualism = Medicare drugs benefit.

The GOP's record on health care socialism eclipses that of the Dems in this century. *sigh*

and terrorist vote.

At this point, the US government is the best advocate for al Qaida. Otherwise it looks like a dead movement, or a shell of what it used to be.
