The All-Star squad would absolutely rape the Lakers. Amare and Duncan would be a devastating frontcourt.

That front court would do NOTHING against LA...please.
#1 problem is at PG. Whoever the PG is would absolutely torch Fisher.
Artest had a tough time with Melo though in the first meeting with Denver.

Bynum and Pau would hold serve against those two, in fact, they just might out play them. Amare couldn't out play Shaq and Z tonight.
Amare: 14 points and 12 rebounds
Shaq and Z combined: 10 points and 7 rebounds
Huh?

You forgot that Amare also had 5 Personal Fouls and 6 Turnovers?
it was LeBron who outplayed em all.

Amare had to guard Varejao and Hickson, anyway, so I'm not sure what lakaluva's talking about.
Lebron played well, as usual. It was Mo Williams that really killed the Suns tonight. Dude was unstoppable.

Yeah I'm sure No-D-Steve repeatedly leaving him open had nothing to do with that.

Slide Duncan to C, take Amare off and add Dirk, and the all star team would win by about 300.
I know one thinkgs for sure, Gasol would be crying. He gets owned by Dirk more than Matt Bonner does.

The Lakers would beat the snot out of the WC All Star team.
No different than Team USA bringing home the Bronze in 2004. Redeem Team barely beat the mostly scrub Spaniards who had been playing together for years.
Made up teams can't beat the real teams without practicing for months on end first.
And it's not just the Lakers, you take the top 5-10 NBA teams and they'll beat the snot out of any All Star team since All Star teams are really poor defensively.

I somewhat agree with this, it's a lot like 2004 cause clearly the best player in that tournament was Manu Ginobili (at least he played like it) and in basketball having the best player automatically gives you a fair shot at winning.

The Cavs would put a hurting on any WC All Star team.
Look at the Spurs, they put together something like 7 new guys.
4 Spurs are in the Top 50 in the NBA.
Spurs are still trying to figure out how to gel their talent while hovering around .500 ball after 20 friggin' games.

I think if you were to make an ideal team... rather than simply a team of the best players at each position... you would go with..
Duncan
Dirk
Melo
Battier
Paul
You could almost run P&R + Iso's for these guys and the team would shoot +50% from the field against any defense.
P&R with Duncan and Paul
Iso's for Melo on the high post
Iso's for Dirk from the elbow/free throw line extended
And you have rim protection with Duncan and excellent perimeter defense in Battier. I think this team would beat the Lakers.... but if you start to put too many guys who need the ball to be effective, such as Roy + Paul + Melo... your asking for trouble.

Why dont we qualify it and say... the WC All-Star team had an entire pre-season together... so we cant make that not gelling excuse.

Here's a more realistic matchup:
LA Lakers vs Phoenix Mercury:
Lakers:
Fisher
Kobe
Artest
Pau
Drew
vs.
Mercury:
Taurasi
Smith
Miller
Pondexter
Taylor
Who wins?
Ghazi

Lakers v EC All Stars
Rondo/Whistle/Lebron/KG/Howard
I'm not even sure Allanon can deny the opposing team winning here :lol
But the WC ALl Star team would win as well, assuming they would have time to practice.

even more realistic matchup:
Lakers vs. Gasol led Spain team
Lakers lose

How about LA Lakers vs NJ Nets with LeBron on NJ that would be a close game? wouldnt it?
Devin Harris
Terrence Williams
LeBron James
Chris Douglas-Roberts
Brooke Lopez
Rooster Fish
12-22-2009, 02:04 PM
A polished Laker team would cream an team made of pieced together parts.
the lakers would lose pretty badly, the only position they have an edge on is the SG position. PG will be their weakest and Cp3 will run circles aorud fisher.
